Princess Diana’s tragic death in a 1997 Paris car crash stunned the world. But now, sources close to the late princess claim the Royal Family delivered a final heartbreaking blow — by denying her the chance to be buried with a love poem and the engagement ring from Dodi Al Fayed, the man many believe was her last great love.

According to insiders, Diana had hoped to be laid to rest with two deeply personal items from Dodi: a romantic poem and a diamond ring that he had reportedly bought just days before their deaths. But her wishes were overruled.

“She was stripped of her voice, even in death,” a source close to the Al Fayed family told RadarOnline.com. “They refused to include the poem or the ring. It was the ultimate cruelty — erasing her love story and silencing who she really was.”

Stripped of Color and Freedom

Instead, Diana was dressed in a somber black Catherine Walker coatdress and buried holding rosary beads gifted by Mother Teresa — a stark contrast to the vibrant spirit her friends say she embodied.

“She adored color and freedom, not this religious rigidity,” the source added. “The Royal Family dressed her in what they thought she should be, not who she truly was.”

Dodi’s Final Gift — Rejected

At the official inquest into Diana’s death, Michael Cole — then a spokesman for Harrods — revealed that Dodi had left the heartfelt poem for Diana on a silver plaque beneath her pillow. After her passing, his father Mohamed Al Fayed pleaded for it to be placed in her coffin. That request, like the ring, was denied.

Also denied were cufflinks that once belonged to Diana’s father — a gift she had passed along to Dodi — and a custom gold cigar clipper engraved with “With love from Diana.” Instead, those items were quietly returned to the family.

A Love Story Scrubbed Clean

While some friends of Diana, including Rosa Monckton, tried to downplay the seriousness of her relationship with Dodi, the Al Fayed family maintained until the end that the two were on the verge of announcing an engagement.

Private letters from Diana, written just weeks before her death, reveal how much she cherished their relationship. One note called their six-day trip on Dodi’s yacht “the most magical six days on the ocean waves.” She spoke of laughter and joy — a clear glimpse into the happiness she had found.

One-Sided Farewells

While Diana was denied the chance to take Dodi’s keepsakes with her, reports say he was buried with the gold cigar clipper she had gifted him. To the Al Fayed family, that contrast was devastating.

“They had each other’s love in life,” the source said. “But in death, only one side was honored. It felt like the final nail in the coffin of Diana’s independence.”

Royal Protocol or Heartless Control?

According to sources familiar with the tense discussions at the time, the Royal Family and Diana’s own relatives — the Spencers — insisted that only official and religious items be placed in her coffin.

“They didn’t want the public to see her connected to Dodi. That’s what it came down to,” said one insider.

For a woman who redefined what it meant to be a royal — compassionate, outspoken, and fiercely independent — being denied her final requests may be one of the greatest betrayals of all.

  1. No matter how the Royal Family downplayed Diana’s vitality of life and her tender moments with Dodi, their two Spirits are once again together in the afterlife!
LOVE TRANSCENDS ALL BARRIERS INCLUDING DEATH!

Diana will be remembered by most people because of her radiant smile and colorful attire — not by the spectacle of drabness the Royal Family covered her in death. Sad, Royals, Sad!
