Prince William reportedly spent years wrestling with anger toward his father after Princess Diana’s shocking death — and at one point allegedly believed Charles was partly responsible for the tragedy that shattered the royal family.

William was just 15 when Diana was killed in a horrific car crash in Paris on Aug. 31, 1997. She was only 36.

Nearly three decades later, claims about the young prince’s grief paint a heartbreaking picture of a teenager struggling to understand why his mother was gone — and looking for someone to blame.

According to a palace source, William was left “in a fury” after Diana’s death and allegedly believed his father had helped push her out of the royal family.

The insider claimed William felt Charles was “responsible for her death because he virtually drove her out of the royal family into the arms of a playboy.”

Diana and then-Prince Charles had finalized their bitter divorce in 1996, one year before the crash.

At the time of her death, Diana was in Paris with boyfriend Dodi Fayed, the son of billionaire businessman Mohamed Al-Fayed. Dodi was also killed in the crash.

For a grieving William, the timing reportedly made the tragedy even harder to process.

The source claimed the teenage prince confronted Charles over what he believed had happened to his mother, allegedly accusing royal insiders of hounding Diana in the years after her marriage fell apart.

William reportedly told his father that Diana would have been “safe in England if you had been kinder to her.”

The source further claimed William had become convinced his mother needed someone as wealthy and powerful as Dodi to help her escape what he saw as constant scrutiny surrounding her life.

The claims offer a glimpse into the extraordinary emotional turmoil William allegedly faced behind palace walls while the world publicly mourned the People’s Princess.

Charles, meanwhile, was also said to have carried his own feelings of guilt.

Another palace insider previously claimed Charles later tried to explain to William and Prince Harry that he had been raised in an emotionally restrained royal environment where openly discussing feelings was discouraged.

According to that source, Charles believed he could have handled the collapse of his marriage differently and done more to help Diana maintain a place within the royal family rather than allowing her to feel isolated.

“If he had been able to handle the breakup of his marriage better, he could have helped Diana find a place within the royal family, instead of being made to feel abandoned,” the insider claimed.

Diana’s turbulent relationship with the monarchy has remained a source of fascination and controversy ever since her death.

And according to another extraordinary insider account, Queen Elizabeth II may have struggled with regrets of her own.

A source claimed the late queen eventually came to believe Diana had been treated too harshly and privately carried “immense guilt” over the way events unfolded.

The insider alleged Elizabeth felt that if Diana and Charles had been treated differently during their marital crisis, history might have taken another course.

“The queen blamed Charles for causing Diana to unravel,” the source claimed, adding that Elizabeth supposedly believed the divorce set Diana down a path that ultimately ended in tragedy.

There is no evidence Charles or the royal family caused Diana’s fatal crash. Official investigations concluded the crash occurred after driver Henri Paul sped through Paris while intoxicated as paparazzi followed the vehicle.

But for William, who suddenly lost his mother at an age when most teenagers still rely heavily on their parents, the tragedy reportedly unleashed years of anger, confusion and unanswered questions.

Now, as another anniversary of Diana’s death approaches, the painful claims are another reminder of just how deeply the princess’ death shook her two sons — and changed the monarchy forever.
