Barron Trump has officially traded the bustling streets of Manhattan for the political heart of Washington, D.C.

The 19-year-old son of President Donald Trump has reportedly left NYU’s Stern School of Business in New York after completing his freshman year and is now attending classes at NYU’s D.C. Academic Centre — while living at the White House.

Barron, who towers at 6-foot-9, was expected to return to NYU’s Manhattan campus this fall but was nowhere to be seen during the semester’s kickoff. “From what I was told, he’s doing a semester at another NYU campus,” a campus security officer told People.

The decision comes after what insiders describe as a “quiet but strategic” summer. A family source revealed, “Barron spent the break traveling with his parents, focusing on his future business plans, and meeting with people tied to his financial interests.”

Unlike his high-profile siblings, Barron has kept an unusually low profile. He has no social media presence, avoids public events, and rarely gives any interviews.

“Barron’s an oddity on campus,” Kaya Walker, former president of the NYC College Republicans, once told Vanity Fair. “He goes to class, he goes home. That’s it.” Walker later resigned after her comments sparked backlash.

Reports suggest Barron previously lived at Trump Tower, commuting 20 minutes to NYU’s main campus under heavy Secret Service protection, often in a motorcade of black SUVs.

The D.C. Academic Centre, which hosts just 120 students, offers a specialized focus on politics, policy, journalism, and economics — all while embedding students in Washington’s power corridor. According to NYU, student life there is “enhanced by access to Washington’s distinctive intellectual, political, and cultural life.”

Barron’s move also comes with new opportunities: internships with think tanks, nonprofits, and government agencies. For the president’s tech-savvy son, it’s a setting that may perfectly align with his interests.

President Trump has hinted that Barron’s ambitions might not follow the family’s traditional path in real estate or politics. Speaking to Fox News earlier this year, Trump revealed his youngest son’s passion for technology.

“Maybe technology,” Trump said when asked about Barron’s future. “He can look at a computer… I shut his laptop off, I come back five minutes later, and somehow, he’s already back online. I say, ‘How do you do that?’”

Barron has also reportedly played a role in helping his father understand cryptocurrency, particularly in preparation for the Trump family’s upcoming digital finance venture, World Liberty Financial. According to Forbes, Barron could have already made an estimated $25 million from early involvement in the project.

The move also brings Barron closer to his mother, First Lady Melania Trump, who has recently taken a lead role in White House-backed AI initiatives. During a task force meeting on AI education, Education Secretary Linda McMahon quipped, “I bet Barron is helping you with a little bit of this as well,” to which Melania nodded.

Last year, Melania told Fox News that studying in New York was Barron’s decision: “He wanted to be in New York, study in New York, and live in his home. I respect that.” But with this switch, Barron now finds himself at the center of Washington’s political and technological hub.

For the first time since Donald Trump’s second inauguration in January, the president, first lady, and their youngest son are all living together at the White House. With Barron pursuing studies, exploring new business ventures, and immersing himself in Washington’s elite circles, it seems his next chapter is just beginning.

  1. Good for Barron! At 19 he’s open to many different avenues to travel and being back with his parents he can be introduced to the right people for his interests!

I totally get this because my son owns a large Software Technology Company in California and both his sons have degrees in Computer Technology and Management! They have “Technology” in their blood!

    Sounds like Barron does too!
Whatever Barron chooses, he will be the BEST there is at it! He’s a very SMART young man!
