Vanity Fair’s new editor, Mark Guiducci, is facing a full-blown newsroom revolt after floating the idea of putting First Lady Melania Trump on the magazine’s cover — a proposal that’s exposing deep political divides inside the storied Condé Nast brand.

According to multiple sources, Guiducci, handpicked by Vogue icon Anna Wintour to modernize the magazine, has been quietly pushing to “broaden Vanity Fair’s appeal” by embracing a more conservative-friendly approach to celebrity coverage. But for many staffers, one rumored idea — giving Melania Trump the cover — crossed a red line.

“If he does this, I will walk out the motherf***ing door,” one furious mid-level editor told the Daily Mail. “And half my staff will follow me. We are not going to normalize this despot and his wife. We’re just not going to do it.”

The editor doubled down, saying they’d quit journalism entirely rather than stay under a leadership that courts Trumpworld: “If I have to work bagging groceries at Trader Joe’s, I’ll do it. If Guiducci puts Melania on the cover, half of us are gone. Guaranteed.”

A Radical Shift in Vanity Fair’s Legacy

Traditionally, Vanity Fair has leaned progressive and has avoided cozying up to Donald Trump and his family. In fact, during Trump’s first term, Condé Nast’s flagship fashion titles — including Vogue — pointedly kept Melania off their covers, despite a decades-long tradition of featuring first ladies.

Hillary Clinton, Michelle Obama, and Jill Biden all graced Vogue’s cover while their husbands were in office. Melania, a former model, hasn’t appeared on an American Vogue cover since 2005.

Insiders say Guiducci’s push marks a major departure from that strategy. “It feels like a betrayal,” one Vanity Fair staffer said anonymously. “We’ve spent years building this brand’s voice, and now he wants to tear it all down for clicks and appease MAGA?”

Conservative Media Fires Back

While Vanity Fair’s newsroom seethes, conservative outlets are applauding the idea. On Fox & Friends, host Ainsley Earhardt praised Guiducci’s rumored move.

“I would buy the magazine,” Earhardt said on Monday’s broadcast. “I’d buy several copies if they put Melania on the cover — just to prove a point.”

Co-host Brian Kilmeade went further, urging Guiducci to “clean house.” “Find that mid-level editor who leaked to the Mail and toss them out,” Kilmeade said. “Send them straight to Trader Joe’s if that’s where they want to work.”

Melania Breaks Her Silence — Sort Of

Back in December, Melania Trump hinted at her disinterest in playing the fashion game during a Fox & Friends appearance. When asked if she expected to return to magazine covers as first lady, she shrugged it off.

“I’ve been there,” Melania said. “For me, we have so many other important things to do than to be on the cover of any magazine.”

Her office declined to comment on the Vanity Fair controversy, but allies say she’s unlikely to get drawn into the brewing media storm.

A Culture Clash That’s Far From Over

For Guiducci, the uproar represents a defining moment. With Condé Nast under pressure to expand its audience beyond its liberal base, his willingness to “test boundaries” may appeal to executives desperate for relevance. But with Vanity Fair’s editorial team threatening to walk out, the stakes couldn’t be higher.

“This isn’t just about a cover,” said a senior Condé Nast insider. “It’s about what the magazine stands for — and whether we’re about to blow up decades of identity to chase a political headline.”

For now, one thing is clear: Melania Trump doesn’t even need to appear on the cover to ignite a civil war inside one of America’s most influential magazines.

  1. Melanie Trump Is High Fashion . She Is Gorgeous . She Is The First Lady Of The United States For The 2nd Time. She Deserves The Cover. She Should Be Put On All The Magazine Covers.
Michele Obama Is Being Called A Man. She Is Not Fashion At All.

  2. Can’t support far left Womens sports politics magazine. Go work at Trader Joe’s, good fit.

  3. So it’s OKAY to put other Democrat President’s wives on the cover, but Not Republican …. we all see what you’re doing. I’d let them ALL “walk out” and go to Trader Joe’s. I think they would change their mind by next month’s house payment due!! NO ONE should tell their boss what to do, there are SO many things wrong with that…. FIRE THEM ALL!!!

  4. Yeah yeah, all them editors will pull out and, what, move abroad like you-know-who? Look at the bright side; they won’t be missed.
