Pamela Peters Solow, a familiar face to fans of classic ‘70s TV, has died at the age of 75. The actress was best known for her guest roles on hit sitcoms like Happy Days and The Partridge Family, as well as a lengthy run on the soap opera The Young and the Restless.
Her close friend Todd Hirsch confirmed the news in a heartfelt Facebook post on June 5. The cause of death was not disclosed.
“Ugh… so gutted,” Hirsch wrote. “Pam Levy — one of the coolest damn ladies I have ever had the good fortune to know — has passed. I met Pam and her husband Marty in 2017 when I moved my office next to theirs in North Hollywood. The friendship with the two of them was instant… I love you, ‘Second Mom.’ I hope we meet again someday.”
Solow made her mark in the 1970s with appearances on shows like Medical Center, Room 222, Emergency!, Butch Cassidy, and Man from Atlantis. In 1972, she popped up in The Partridge Family episode “Waiting for Bolero,” playing the woman David Cassidy’s character briefly moves in with in a comic attempt at independence.
She went on to land her most prominent role on The Young and the Restless, where she played Peggy Brooks beginning with the show’s second episode in 1973. Peggy was one of the original Brooks sisters, navigating love, college life, and danger — including a dramatic storyline where she nearly died trying to expose a cult.
Solow left the show in 1977, returned in 1978, and made her final appearance in 1984. Her last acting credit came in 1990’s Omega Cop, where she starred alongside Batman legend Adam West.
Fans remember her as a charming and talented performer whose presence lit up the screen during television’s golden age.
