A 76-year-old woman in Florida is lucky to be alive after a powerful storm tore through her neighborhood and lifted her home off the ground while she was still inside.

The terrifying moment was caught on camera in Largo’s Ranchero Village, a mobile home community along Florida’s west coast, as fierce winds slammed the area during a round of severe storms Wednesday night. Ten tornadoes were reported in Minnesota, and one in Wisconsin, while dangerous weather also struck the Southeast.

Stephanie Glenn, the woman’s daughter, told ABC News her mother was thrown around inside the home as it was being tossed by the storm. “I don’t know how she survived,” she said. “She got thrown around and beat up pretty bad, but is OK.”

More than 40 homes in Ranchero Village were damaged during the storm, according to local officials. Photos and videos from the aftermath show debris scattered across the community as residents assess what’s left of their properties.

While the woman’s home was severely damaged, her survival is being hailed as nothing short of miraculous. Her family says she’s recovering from the physical toll but remains shaken by the ordeal.

Severe storms are expected to continue Thursday, though they may be less widespread. Areas of concern include Iowa, Minnesota, and Wisconsin, where damaging winds and isolated tornadoes are still possible.

Meanwhile, a brutal heat wave continues to bake the East Coast. Though temperatures are beginning to ease slightly, cities like Washington, D.C., Atlanta, and Charlotte are still facing heat index levels over 100 degrees. Relief is expected by the weekend, but forecasters warn the heat could return next week—just not as extreme.

With powerful storms and oppressive heat sweeping across the U.S., residents are being urged to stay weather-aware and take precautions to stay safe.
