Prince William is reportedly distancing himself more than ever from his scandal-plagued uncle, Prince Andrew, as the disgraced Duke of York once again finds himself under public scrutiny—this time following the tragic death of his accuser, Virginia Giuffre.

According to royal commentator Charlotte Griffiths, the Prince of Wales views Andrew as an “unsolvable problem” and is determined not to be associated with him, especially as old controversies continue to resurface. “William won’t be seen anywhere near his uncle,” Griffiths said during a segment on GB News. “He knows that Andrew is a problem that simply won’t go away.”

The tension reportedly came to a head when Andrew made a surprise appearance at the royal family’s Easter service—a move that reportedly left many stunned, especially given that he had been barred from attending Christmas at Sandringham just months earlier. “Every now and then, Andrew gets it into his head that he can make a comeback,” Griffiths said. “But the signals from the palace are very, very clear that he can’t.”

Andrew’s name returned to headlines following the death of Virginia Giuffre on April 25. The 41-year-old woman, who had accused Andrew of sexually abusing her when she was a teenager trafficked by Jeffrey Epstein, died by suicide at her home in Australia.

The lawyer who represented Giuffre in her civil lawsuit against Andrew is now calling for the prince to finally take accountability. “He needs to say he’s sorry and come clean,” attorney David Boies said during an appearance on Piers Morgan Uncensored. “Even if he doesn’t remember what happened, he should acknowledge the pain caused.”

Boies also pointed out that the 2022 settlement between Andrew and Giuffre, rumored to be worth millions, was never the endgame for his client. “She always hoped for an apology—something real,” he said. “She would have accepted Prince Andrew taking responsibility.”

Giuffre’s death has reopened questions about the prince’s past ties to Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell, and whether he will ever publicly address the accusations that have dogged him for years. Though he has consistently denied wrongdoing, the damage to his public image—and to the royal family—has been lasting.

Adding another layer to the tragedy, Giuffre had recently posted online that she had “days to live” following what she described as a serious crash with a school bus in March. Police and the bus driver disputed the severity of the incident, but friends said she had been struggling with physical and emotional trauma in recent months. She also alleged years of domestic abuse by her husband, Robert Giuffre, from whom she had recently separated after more than two decades of marriage.

As King Charles continues treatment for cancer and the monarchy faces ongoing pressures, Prince William appears to be drawing a firm line when it comes to family reputation—starting with making sure he’s not linked to Andrew’s lingering scandals.
