Prince Harry stepped out in Los Angeles Friday night to speak at the 22nd annual Living Legends of Aviation Awards, held at the prestigious Beverly Hilton.
The 40-year-old Duke of Sussex looked sharp in a black tux and bow tie as he joined a lineup of Hollywood icons onstage, including John Travolta, Kurt Russell, and Morgan Freeman. Harry attended solo, with wife Meghan Markle noticeably absent.
Travolta, who has become close to Harry over the past year, welcomed him warmly at the event. Harry was inducted as a “Living Legend” himself at last year’s ceremony, further cementing his ties to the world of aviation enthusiasts and Hollywood elite.
During his speech, Harry paid heartfelt tribute to the pilots and first responders who battled the devastating wildfires that tore through California earlier this year.
“What I’ve seen and what the world sees is that first responders rise to that challenge every single time, and yet we rarely get the chance to thank them,” he told the audience. “This community, bound and energized by service to others, shows up for us wherever we are and whenever they’re needed. They put their lives on hold for as long as we need them.”
While Harry was making headlines in Los Angeles, across the Atlantic his brother Prince William was carrying out a solemn royal duty in Rome, attending the funeral of Pope Francis on behalf of King Charles.

William, wearing a navy suit, appeared somber as he represented both the British monarchy and the Church of England at the massive state funeral held in St. Peter’s Square. The event drew about 170 international delegations, including U.S. leaders like Donald Trump, along with France’s President Emmanuel Macron and Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky.
William, who attended without Princess Kate, was seen briefly chatting with President Trump and President Macron before the service began, according to Kensington Palace. He also greeted First Lady Melania Trump and France’s First Lady Brigitte Macron as he made his way inside.
The funeral drew European royalty as well, with figures like Prince Albert and Princess Charlene of Monaco, King Felipe and Queen Letizia of Spain, and the Grand Duke and Grand Duchess of Luxembourg paying their respects. Catholic royals were seated in the front row inside St. Peter’s Basilica to honor the late pontiff.
The contrasting appearances of Harry and William — one at a glitzy Beverly Hills event, the other at a historic Vatican ceremony — quietly underscore how much their lives have diverged since Harry stepped away from royal duties.
