Prince Harry is once again lashing out at the British government—and this time, he’s claiming his family was deliberately stripped of police protection to stop them from leaving royal life.
In a bombshell courtroom appeal, the Duke of Sussex argued that the UK’s decision to downgrade his security wasn’t just bureaucratic—it was strategic sabotage. He says his “worst fears” have been confirmed, calling the process a backhanded attempt to trap him and Meghan Markle in Britain.
“They wanted to keep us in the system,” Harry said, in comments made public after a partially closed-door hearing this week at London’s Royal Courts of Justice. “Now, after seeing the full legal disclosure, it’s clear this wasn’t about safety—it was about control.”
Harry lost his taxpayer-funded police protection back in 2020, right after he and Meghan famously stepped away from their roles as senior royals and fled to California. Since then, he’s been fighting an uphill battle to get that protection reinstated, claiming his family is at risk every time they visit the UK.
But critics—and many Britons—aren’t buying the narrative. After all, the couple chose fame, fortune, and Netflix over duty, tradition, and responsibility. And now, Harry is back in court demanding special treatment while slamming the very system he abandoned.
According to the British Home Office, Harry isn’t being denied protection altogether. Instead, they offer what’s been called a “bespoke” plan—security tailored to each UK trip, determined by risk level and with a mandatory 30-day notice. But Harry’s legal team insists that’s not good enough.
“He’s been singled out for inferior treatment,” said his lawyer, Shaheed Fatima KC. “This is unjustified and unfair.”
The government sees it differently. Their attorneys made it clear this week that security decisions are made on a case-by-case basis—and Harry doesn’t get a free pass just because he’s the King’s son.
Retired judge Sir Peter Lane already ruled last year that the security downgrade was lawful. Now Harry is trying to overturn that ruling, but his appeal has already raised eyebrows. The hearing was partially held in private to protect “sensitive” evidence, something critics argue plays into Harry’s preferred tactic of controlling the narrative while avoiding full transparency.
“The public would be shocked if they knew what’s being withheld,” Harry warned. But for many in the UK, the real shock came years ago—when the once-admired prince ditched his homeland for celebrity status and now keeps returning only to fight for privileges he renounced.
Sources close to Buckingham Palace dismissed Harry’s suggestion that the royal security decision was meant to “trap” him and Meghan. “That’s simply false,” said one insider. “The couple made their choice. It’s disingenuous to play victim now.”
Speaking to The Telegraph, Harry described the toll the legal battle has taken on him personally. “It’s exhausting,” he said. “We were just trying to create a happy house.”
But many see a different story: a wealthy couple who left their duties behind, now trying to rewrite the rules from abroad—rules they once agreed to leave behind.
As the court deliberates, a ruling isn’t expected before Easter. But the bigger verdict—on Harry and Meghan’s standing in the public eye—may already be in.
For many, the prince’s crusade isn’t about justice. It’s about entitlement. And this latest episode may only further cement his fall from grace.

Poor baby. No sympathy. He choose his path.
Keep it up,Ginger… You get them angry enough, then you won’t have your title or anything! They will only take so much before their anger erupts. You COULD have had a pretty good life, but the harpy of a wife you chose brainwashed you into thinking “everyone” was against you. That’s so far from the truth:YOU are against YOU and the harpy encouraged all of this to happen. YOU rushed into doing something that you are now realizing that you shouldn’t have done. But those bridges are long burnt and you can’t rebuild them.
He is so used to having then around, now he really feels out of place, without them.
Sorry Hon, you can’t have everything any more… Sorry
