King Charles III was rushed to the hospital this week after suffering side effects from his ongoing cancer treatment — but the monarch is already back to work and, surprisingly, using home-grown cannabis to ease the pain.

The 76-year-old sovereign was taken by car to The London Clinic on March 27 for what Buckingham Palace described as “temporary side effects” caused by his scheduled cancer therapy. Queen Camilla did not accompany him.

A Palace spokesperson confirmed: “Following scheduled and ongoing medical treatment for cancer this morning, The King experienced temporary side effects that required a short period of observation in hospital. His Majesty’s afternoon engagements were therefore postponed.”

Sources say doctors expected this bump in the road and reassured the public that the King’s overall progress remains positive.

“He’s staying strong,” said one palace insider. “This was always part of the journey. The King was back at Clarence House the same evening, already reviewing State Papers and making phone calls.”

The Palace confirmed Charles would miss four public appearances in Birmingham and a formal audience with ambassadors due to the incident. “He is greatly disappointed,” the spokesman added, “and offers his deepest apologies to those affected.”

A Royal Shock: King Growing His Own Cannabis

In a surprising twist, sources close to the royal household revealed King Charles is using cannabis to manage his pain — and he’s growing it himself.

According to insiders, the King has been cultivating a modest cannabis crop at his Highgrove estate in Gloucestershire. The move shocked royal observers but is in line with Charles’ well-known passion for organic farming and natural remedies.

“He’s always been a healthy, clean-living guy,” said one palace aide. “That’s why this diagnosis hit him so hard. But Charles is open-minded. He’s done his research and believes in the healing power of the plant.”

The crop is reportedly kept in a private greenhouse and tended by the King himself. While the Palace won’t confirm whether he’s actively using it, multiple sources suggest the monarch has been “puffing his own product.”

“He’s not planning to open a cannabis dispensary at the Highgrove shop anytime soon,” one insider joked, “but the King’s using what works. And he’s not ashamed of that.”

Cancer Diagnosis Shakes the Monarchy

Charles’ battle with cancer, which the Palace announced earlier this year, has become a closely watched health saga in the UK. While the Palace has kept specific details under wraps — including the type of cancer — royal watchers say the King’s recent hospital trip raised eyebrows across the Commonwealth.

“He’s still working. He’s still leading. That’s the message he wants to send,” a government source said.

Critics have questioned whether the monarchy is being transparent enough about the King’s condition, but royal supporters defend his privacy.

“This country has rallied behind the King,” said British commentator Jonathan Steele. “He’s showing the grit and determination of the late Queen, and people respect that — even if they don’t agree with every choice he’s making.”

As of Thursday evening, Charles remained at Clarence House, resting but still handling official matters from his private study. Whether he’ll return to full public duties soon remains to be seen.

But one thing’s for sure: this is not the kind of royal story Britain — or the world — expected.

“He’s taking things day by day,” said a senior aide. “And if that means growing a little royal weed to ease the pain, then so be it.”
