Trump Assassin had an Accomplice? FBI Accused of ‘Suppressing Info’

Nearly nine months after a shocking assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump, the mystery surrounding the shooter, 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, remains unresolved.

Investigators, independent researchers, and even lawmakers have raised concerns that key details are being withheld, leaving Americans with more questions than answers.

A Lone Wolf or a Coordinated Attack?

On July 13, 2024, Crooks, a seemingly quiet engineering student, perched himself on a rooftop 130 yards from the stage at the Butler Fairgrounds and opened fire as Trump addressed the crowd.

He fired eight rounds, grazing the former president’s ear and killing rallygoer Corey Comperatore, 50, while injuring two others. Within seconds, a Secret Service sniper eliminated Crooks, preventing further carnage.

The official narrative? Crooks acted alone. But a growing number of investigators aren’t so sure.

Doug Hagmann, a private investigator hired by an independent client, has spent months digging into the case. His team has interviewed over 100 people and conducted a geofencing analysis of digital devices present at the scene. According to Hagmann, the data reveals troubling patterns.

“We don’t think he acted alone,” Hagmann stated. “This took serious coordination. In my view, Crooks was being handled by someone. And there may have been people in the crowd helping him.”

Suppressed Evidence?

If Crooks had co-conspirators, why hasn’t the FBI disclosed any evidence? That’s the question being asked by Rep. Clay Higgins (R-La.), who has been investigating the case independently. Higgins claims the FBI has consistently obstructed access to critical information, including data from Crooks’ electronic devices.

“Why do we know so little about this guy?” Higgins asked during a recent congressional hearing. “We’ve been stonewalled at every turn.”

Hagmann’s team claims that one of the devices geolocated with Crooks—traced to multiple locations before the shooting—is still pinging today at Bethel Park High School, where Crooks graduated in 2022. The implication? Someone connected to the attack may still be in the area.

Who Was Thomas Crooks?

The media initially painted Crooks as a troubled loner with a history of threats and instability. But those who knew him describe a very different person.

“He was my little buddy,” said Xavier Harmon, a former computer technology teacher who taught Crooks for two years. “He was quirky, funny, and incredibly smart. He was the type of kid who’d finish his work early and then help his classmates.”

Neighbors of Crooks’ family, who live in a modest home in Bethel Park, describe them as reclusive. His parents, Matthew and Mary Crooks, have refused all media requests and are rarely seen outside their home, except for their unusual habit of grocery shopping at 3 a.m.

“There’s something they’re not telling us,” one neighbor, who requested anonymity, told us. “They live like hermits. No interviews, no statements, nothing. It’s eerie.”

A Mysterious Cremation

One of the most puzzling aspects of the case is the handling of Crooks’ body. Despite the significance of the event, toxicology tests for prescription or illicit drugs were never released. And, in a move that raised eyebrows among investigators, Crooks’ remains were handed over to his family just eight days after the shooting—without notifying key officials involved in the case. He was promptly cremated.

“This is highly irregular,” said a retired federal agent who requested anonymity. “In a case of this magnitude, you don’t just rush to destroy the evidence. Why wasn’t a full autopsy done? What were they trying to hide?”

Radicalization or Manipulation?

Some theories suggest Crooks may have been radicalized during his time at the Community College of Allegheny County. However, his academic adviser, Todd Landree, dismisses that idea.

“He wasn’t involved in any radical groups,” Landree said. “He was intelligent and focused. He even designed a 3-D printed chess set for the blind—it was one of the most impressive projects I’ve seen.”

Others believe Crooks may have been manipulated into participating in the attack. His high school friend Mark Sigaroos believes there’s more to the story.

“It’s presented like an open-and-shut case—like, ‘Oh, he went crazy’—but it doesn’t add up,” Sigaroos said. “It’s like JFK. Do we really think something like that couldn’t happen again?”

The FBI’s Role and a Cold Trail

The trail is growing cold in Butler, PA. But some, like Rep. Higgins, refuse to let the story die. He will chair a newly formed subcommittee tasked with uncovering the truth.

“I don’t know exactly what happened on July 13,” Higgins admitted. “But I know one thing for sure—someone isn’t telling the whole truth. And the American people deserve answers.”

For now, those answers remain elusive. But one thing is clear: The case of Thomas Crooks is far from closed.
