Marshall Rose, a distinguished real estate developer and the husband of actress Candice Bergen, has passed away at the age of 88.
According to sources, Rose died at his New York home on February 15 due to complications from Parkinson’s disease. Family members surrounded him in his final moments.

Rose was more than just the husband of a Hollywood star—he was a visionary figure in urban development. As a leading real estate mogul, he played a significant role in shaping New York City’s skyline.

He is survived by his wife, Candice Bergen; his children, Wendi and Andrew; his stepdaughter, Chloe Malle; and six grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, his brother Robert, and his late wife, Jill.
A Love Story That Began After Loss
Bergen, best known for her role in Murphy Brown, found love again with Rose after experiencing a devastating loss. Her first husband, acclaimed French director Louis Malle, passed away in 1995 from lymphoma. Reflecting on his passing, Bergen once wrote, “I went to great lengths to keep it private, but the grief was immense.”
In 2000, she and Rose married, blending their families and sharing more than two decades together. In interviews, she often spoke fondly of their life together, injecting her signature humor.
During a 2018 interview with Architectural Digest, Bergen playfully quipped about their age gap, joking that some antiques in their home were “older than Marsh.” Chloe Malle, Bergen’s daughter from her first marriage, also spoke warmly about her stepfather, adding, “Poor Marsh, he’s a saint for putting up with us.”

Beyond his business success, Rose was known for his generous philanthropic efforts. He was deeply involved in cultural institutions, supporting arts and education initiatives throughout New York.
