Former President Donald Trump delivered a stark warning to Iran on Tuesday, vowing total destruction if the regime attempts to assassinate him. Speaking from the Oval Office as he signed an executive order intensifying pressure on Tehran, Trump declared that any such act would result in Iran being “obliterated.”

“That would be a terrible thing for them to do,” Trump stated firmly. “If they did that, they would be obliterated. That would be the end… there won’t be anything left.”

Iran’s Assassination Plot: A Growing Threat

The former president’s comments come amid heightened concerns over Iran’s ambitions. In November, the Department of Justice (DOJ) revealed it had foiled an Iranian-led plot to kill Trump ahead of the presidential election.

According to a criminal complaint, Iranian intelligence officers instructed Farhad Shakeri, 51, to surveil and ultimately assassinate the former president. Shakeri, an Iranian national who once lived in the U.S., was deported 17 years ago after serving a 14-year sentence for armed robbery. Authorities believe he is currently in Iran.

Trump: ‘Biden Should Have Said That’

Trump criticized President Joe Biden’s handling of Iranian aggression, asserting that the current administration’s weakness emboldens America’s enemies.

“Biden should have said that,” Trump said. “But he didn’t. A lack of intelligence, a lack of courage—that’s why we’re here now.”

Iran’s Failing Economy and Fear of a Trump Return

The Iranian regime is already feeling the pressure of Trump’s potential return to office. The Iranian rial recently plummeted to record lows amid speculation that Trump’s presidency would bring back severe economic sanctions.

“They’re terrified,” said former National Security Advisor John Bolton. “Iran knows Trump won’t play games. If they move against him, they sign their own death warrant.”

The Executive Order: Maximum Pressure Reinstated

The newly signed executive order expands economic and diplomatic sanctions on Iran, targeting key sectors including oil exports and banking. Trump suggested this measure is only the beginning of a broader strategy to keep America safe.

“I’m signing this, and it’s a very powerful document,” Trump said. “Hopefully, we won’t have to use it. But make no mistake—Iran will regret it if they cross that line.”

America on High Alert

While Shakeri remains at large, U.S. intelligence agencies are closely monitoring potential threats. Sources within the administration indicate that contingency plans are in place should Iran make any aggressive moves.

“We are ready,” said a senior U.S. defense official. “Iran would be making the biggest mistake in its history.”

The Bottom Line

As the 2024 election looms, Trump’s strong stance on national security remains a central theme of his campaign. With tensions rising, the world is watching to see if Iran will test the resolve of a man who has already proven he is willing to act decisively.
