The Democratic National Committee (DNC) has officially named David Hogg, a 24-year-old gun control activist, as its new vice chair. The decision has ignited controversy, as past statements and social media posts reveal a history of radical positions that some critics say could further alienate the Democratic Party from mainstream voters.
Hogg, a survivor of the 2018 Parkland school shooting, first gained national recognition as a vocal proponent of gun control. Now, his digital footprint is coming under scrutiny as conservatives highlight his history of left-wing stances, including defunding the police, abolishing Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), and implementing a 100% tax on billionaires.
A Party in Crisis?
The DNC is already struggling to recover from its devastating 2024 election losses. Even some Democrats are uneasy about the party’s new leadership direction. Faiz Shakir, former campaign manager for Bernie Sanders, warned that the party is “in desperate need of a major makeover” to reconnect with working-class voters and regain trust among moderates.
“If Democrats want to win again, they need to focus on real economic issues, not identity politics and Twitter activism,” Shakir told reporters. “Hogg’s appointment is a risky move.”
Hogg’s ‘Radical’ Past Comes Back to Haunt Him
Conservative voices were quick to blast the DNC’s decision, pointing to Hogg’s past social media posts as evidence of the party’s increasingly extreme positions.
“How radical, you ask?” Hogg tweeted in 2022. “I don’t think anybody should have over $1 billion in assets. There should be a 100% tax after your first billion. We need universal healthcare, free college for all, and legalized drugs.”
His comments didn’t stop there. He once claimed he would rather own a Porsche than have children, citing environmental concerns. “Long term, it’s cheaper, better for the environment, and will never tell you it hates you or ask you to pay for college,” he posted in 2022.
Hogg’s views on law enforcement have also raised eyebrows. “Abolish ICE. Defund the police, not USPS,” he wrote in 2021, aligning himself with some of the most progressive voices in the Democratic Party.

Republicans Celebrate ‘Gift’ to the GOP
GOP strategists see Hogg’s appointment as an early victory for their party. “The DNC just handed us 2026 and 2028 on a silver platter,” said Republican consultant Mike Davis. “This is proof they’ve learned absolutely nothing from their election failures.”
Social media users piled on. “The DNC’s new vice chair once said, ‘We have enough straight white men in power.’ Well, let’s see how that messaging works for them in the next election,” one user posted.
Many believe Hogg’s appointment will only deepen the Democratic Party’s disconnect with middle America, particularly with young male voters who have been drifting toward the GOP in recent years.
A Rising Star or Political Liability?
Despite the backlash, Hogg remains defiant. At the DNC’s Winter Meeting, he positioned himself as the party’s best hope to win back young voters.
“We had a 20-point shift to the right among young people,” Hogg said. “We must show them we care, that we support them, and that we invest in them.”
However, his ability to unite the party and win over voters remains in question. Even some left-wing voices worry that his presence in party leadership could do more harm than good.
“Any politician doing anything with me is in effect committing political suicide,” Hogg admitted in a 2022 post. The coming months will determine whether his prediction was right.

It\’s a great choice; Hogg couldn\’t lead ants to a picnic! All he can do is yell, and that won\’t move the needle. SCOTUS has spoken on the 2nd Amendment, in Heller and NYRPA V Bruen, andHogg just isn\’t bright enough to understand he has lost the fight before he began!
He isn’t a Parkland shooting survivor, he wasn’t even in school that day, he was home playing video games and rode his bike to Parkland to bask in the media attention. He’s a poser. As low as one can get.
I am an elderly woman who cherishes the thought of a younger generation joining the DNC. We all need new blood running this Country. That is if we have a Country to run after the Felon and his goons end their reign

Arriving at school after the shooter was captured doesn’t make him a “survivor”. It makes him someone playing a role of being a mouthpiece for Anti-Constitutional factions. He has never related or explained how he was told not to go to school until after his mother (CNN News member) had arrived. His father, ex-FBLIES member was told in advance.
