ABC’s David Muir is in hot water after viewers noticed a fashion misstep during his live coverage of the Los Angeles wildfires.

For many, the focus of Muir’s broadcast on Wednesday was not the devastation of the fires but rather the clothes pins discreetly fastened behind his jacket—creating a more tailored, svelte appearance. While this common trick is used by TV professionals to adjust ill-fitting outfits, it left many viewers questioning the anchor’s priorities.

“Is David Muir more concerned with his looks than with the loss of lives?” one viewer tweeted. It seems many felt that his vanity clashed with the grim nature of the news he was reporting.

Conservative pundit Megyn Kelly was quick to condemn the incident, calling Muir’s fashion choices “abject vanity” in a scathing comment on her podcast.

Despite Muir’s silence on the matter, ABC insiders have hinted that the anchor may have learned from the incident. Sources say that Muir was “embarrassed and horrified” by the public backlash. On Thursday, the anchor appeared on air with a looser jacket, indicating a possible acknowledgment of the criticism.

One insider remarked, “It was just so tone-deaf. He’s the face of ABC News, not a fashion model. It’s like ‘Zoolander’ meets ‘Anchorman.’”

Muir’s on-air appearance sparked more backlash when viewers observed the jacket modification. “How many people died today? And this is the focus?” one Twitter user wrote.

Another commenter humorously pointed out, “Looks like the wooden clothes pins from David Muir’s jacket have gone up in smoke too,” referring to the lack of the tailoring trick during his latest appearance.

Muir’s attempt to appear stylish while reporting on a tragedy has raised questions about the role of vanity in modern journalism. As news anchors become increasingly visible figures, many are wondering whether they are losing sight of their primary responsibility—reporting the news.

The public’s reaction is clear: they want reporters to focus on the story, not the spectacle.

  1. Screw this “pansy-ass wimp!” So many people have stopped watching ABC and all the other MSM lying Fake News BS and turned to more reliable independent internet sources and a few of the Canle News Networks!
David Muir is just another failed “pretty—boy empty suit!”

  2. Who cares if he’s wearing clothes pins to hold his clothes tighter. I’ve done something similar when I couldn’t find a belt to tighten my pants. I tied a piece of string around me.
