In a shocking admission, President Joe Biden acknowledged that his age may have rendered him unfit for a second term in the White House. Speaking to USA Today, the 82-year-old cast doubt on his own endurance.

“So far, so good, but who knows what I’m going to be when I’m 86 years old?” Biden confessed, sparking renewed debates over his mental and physical fitness for leadership.

Biden’s frailty became glaringly obvious during a disastrous debate performance against Donald Trump last June. Critics across the aisle questioned his sharpness, and whispers of cognitive decline grew louder. Under pressure from top Democrats, Biden reluctantly bowed out of the race in July, clearing the way for Kamala Harris to lead the ticket—a gamble that ended in a crushing loss to Trump.

Despite stepping aside, Biden still insists he could have won. “It’s presumptuous to say that, but I think yes,” he told USA Today, referencing internal polls. But even he couldn’t deny the elephant in the room: his age. “I don’t know,” he admitted when asked if he could handle another term. “Who the hell knows?”

Biden’s tenure—marked by frequent gaffes and moments of visible exhaustion—has highlighted a growing divide within the Democratic Party. Many insiders believe his leadership faltered well before his debate debacle. Van Jones, a former Obama adviser, called the party’s refusal to address Biden’s age head-on “a colossal mistake.”

Adding fuel to the fire, Trump’s commanding presence on the campaign trail stood in stark contrast. Despite being 78 himself, Trump energized massive crowds while Biden struggled to complete sentences without missteps.

In an unprecedented move, Biden revealed he is considering preemptive pardons for Liz Cheney and Anthony Fauci. Both figures have become lightning rods for Republican ire—Cheney for her role in the January 6 investigation and Fauci for his handling of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“It’s something I’m considering,” Biden said, citing concerns about potential reprisals from Trump. During his campaign, Trump vowed to seek “revenge” against those he deemed enemies, fueling speculation about high-profile prosecutions.

Cheney, who openly campaigned against her own party, and Fauci, long accused of misleading the public, have become symbols of what many conservatives view as Democratic overreach.

While Trump has publicly derided Biden’s administration, Biden hinted at surprising moments of civility during private transition meetings. “He was very complimentary about some of the economic things I had done,” Biden said. “He thought I was leaving with a good record.”

But Republicans remain skeptical, with many questioning whether Biden’s comments are an attempt to soften Trump’s hardline image.

As Trump prepares to reclaim the presidency, Biden’s legacy hangs in the balance. Critics argue his tenure was marred by indecision, partisan divides, and physical decline. For Republicans, his departure is a turning point—a chance to restore strength and resolve in Washington.

“You don’t get to choose the world you leave behind,” Biden reflected in the interview. “You just do your best and hope it matters.”

For many, Biden’s best simply wasn’t enough.
