Manhattan was thrown into chaos Monday morning as a stabbing spree claimed three lives in random, unprovoked attacks.

The suspect, Ramon Rivera, 51, was arrested shortly after the assaults and has been charged with three counts of first-degree murder, police said.

The first attack occurred at 8:22 a.m. on West 19th Street, where construction worker Angel Lata Landi, 36, was fatally stabbed in the abdomen. Two hours later, a 68-year-old man was stabbed multiple times on East 30th Street and died at the scene.

The violence continued at 10:55 a.m. near 42nd Street and First Avenue, where 36-year-old Wilma Augustin was stabbed in the chest and arm. She was rushed to New York Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center but later died of her injuries.

Rivera, a homeless man staying at Bellevue Men’s Shelter, was apprehended nearby with two bloody kitchen knives. “He walked up to these individuals and attacked them without warning,” said Chief of Detectives Joe Kenny.

The suspect has a record of eight prior arrests and struggles with mental health issues. “This is another tragic example of a broken system that allows dangerous individuals to remain on the streets,” said Mayor Eric Adams.

Police have confirmed no additional suspects are being sought. Investigations are ongoing as the city grapples with yet another senseless tragedy.
