The MAGA base is fuming. Despite strong backing from Donald Trump’s most fervent supporters, Florida Senator Rick Scott fell short in his bid for Senate Majority Leader, failing to even make it to a second round of votes. The result? A furious backlash against the Republican establishment, and calls for retribution are echoing across social media.

Scott, who had the full weight of MAGA endorsements behind him, was crushed by the secretive, old-guard voting process that catapulted Senator John Thune (R-SD) into power. Thune, once a harsh Trump critic, is now at the center of MAGA fury.

Charlie Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA and a fiery voice in the MAGA movement, minced no words. Appearing on Real America’s Voice, he issued a warning: “If Thune doesn’t back President Trump 100% in the next 30 to 45 days, we will remove him.” Although Kirk has no official authority in the Senate, his influence is undeniable. Millions of MAGA loyalists hang on his every word, and the pressure is on.

Steve Bannon, the former White House strategist and host of War Room, was equally blunt. “Victory is not ours,” he declared on his podcast. “I don’t care how you dress it up, it’s not.” For Bannon and his followers, anything less than total control is a defeat—and they’re not afraid to voice their frustration.

The social media backlash has been fierce. Right-wing influencer Rogan O’Handley, known to his two million followers on X as “DC Draino,” demanded accountability. “Every Senator who voted for Rick Scott should publicly confirm it,” he said, determined to identify who he labeled “backstabbers.”

Ryan Fournier, founder of Students for Trump, slammed the result as “ridiculous,” while conservative commentator Savanah Hernandez was even more aggressive. “We need to know who voted for Thune and Cornyn,” she posted to her 600,000 followers. “The American people wanted Rick Scott. Anyone who defied us should be removed from office.” The message was clear: no compromise, no forgiveness.

Joey Mannarino, another pro-Trump activist, echoed the sentiment. “If we find out you didn’t vote Rick Scott,” he warned, “we will absolutely primary the s— out of you.” The threat of MAGA-backed challengers looms large over any senator seen as a traitor.

Thune’s victory reveals a troubling reality for Trump loyalists: the establishment GOP isn’t bowing to MAGA demands as expected. Thune, who once said Trump’s 2020 election challenges would “go down like a shot dog,” has a complicated history with the former president. Trump called him a “RINO”—Republican In Name Only—but their relationship seemed to thaw, at least on the surface. Still, this latest vote suggests deep fractures remain within the party.

While Donald Trump himself stayed silent on Scott’s bid, prominent allies like Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy made it clear they supported Scott. Meanwhile, senators like Ted Cruz (R-TX), Rand Paul (R-KY), and Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) publicly endorsed Scott, throwing weight behind the MAGA push for new leadership.

But in the shadows of a secret ballot, the establishment prevailed. And with that, MAGA’s rage is only just beginning.
