A heated confrontation between two Tennessee Titans players reportedly took a frightening turn when defensive tackle Jordan Elliott stormed out of the team’s facility and headed to his car to retrieve a gun, leading to his sudden release from the NFL franchise.

The shocking incident unfolded Thursday, October 15, following a practice dispute between Elliott, 28, and offensive tackle JC Latham. What initially appeared to be a routine clash between teammates reportedly escalated into a serious situation that prompted the organization to take immediate action.

According to A to Z Sports and NFL reporter Aaron Wilson of KPRC, the trouble began when Elliott and Latham became involved in an altercation during practice. Elliott was reportedly ordered off the field, removed his shoulder pads and stormed out of the locker room.

But the confrontation allegedly did not end there.

Sources said Elliott headed to the players’ parking area outside the Titans’ training facility to retrieve a firearm from his vehicle. Security cameras reportedly captured his movements as tensions continued to rise.

Veteran defensive lineman John Franklin-Myers stepped in and helped calm Elliott before the situation escalated further. No injuries were reported, and there was no confrontation involving the weapon.

Titans head coach Robert Saleh addressed the disturbing incident Wednesday, October 21, confirming that Elliott had pulled a gun in the parking lot while defending his former player’s character.

Saleh described the episode as a “terrible lapse in judgment” and suggested Elliott was struggling with personal matters that may have contributed to his behavior.

“He’s a good man,” Saleh told reporters, explaining that he viewed the incident as a call for help rather than a criminal act.

The coach also praised Franklin-Myers for stepping in during the tense encounter, calling his efforts to help Elliott admirable.

Despite his support for Elliott, Saleh acknowledged that the organization had little choice but to enforce its rules regarding firearms on team property.

The NFL prohibits players and other personnel from possessing firearms at team facilities, including designated parking areas. A league spokesperson confirmed that the Titans promptly reported the incident and that the matter remains under review.

The Metro Nashville Police Department told A to Z Sports that no police reports had been filed and that the department had not been contacted by the team regarding the confrontation.

On Tuesday, October 20, the Titans officially announced Elliott’s release, initially offering little explanation for the abrupt decision.

“On Thursday, October 15, there was an incident at our team facility involving Jordan Elliott,” the organization said in a statement.

“Following our review of the incident, we have made the decision to release Elliott from our roster. We will have no further comment on the matter.”

Elliott had missed the team’s October 16 practice for what was described as personal reasons. He also did not travel with Tennessee for Sunday’s 26-20 victory over the Indianapolis Colts.

The defensive tackle had joined the Titans in March after signing a two-year contract reportedly worth $8 million. He previously spent four seasons with the Cleveland Browns and two with the San Francisco 49ers.

A former third-round draft pick, Elliott appeared in Tennessee’s first five games this season, recording 11 tackles and making one start before his unexpected departure.

The controversy comes at a difficult time for the Titans, who lost their first five games before finally securing their first victory of the season against Indianapolis.

Tennessee now faces the Cleveland Browns on Sunday, October 25, but the fallout from Elliott’s departure could extend well beyond the team’s next game.

With the NFL reviewing the incident, Elliott could potentially face additional disciplinary action. No league punishment had been announced as of Wednesday.

Saleh, however, made it clear that he believes Elliott deserves another opportunity in professional football, even offering to personally recommend him to other NFL teams.

For now, the veteran defensive tackle’s future remains uncertain following an alarming incident that brought his brief Tennessee career to an abrupt end.
