Cher has never been shy, and as the legendary superstar turns 80, she is proving once again why she remains one of Hollywood’s most fascinating women.
The “Believe” icon has lived a life packed with music, fame, reinvention, heartbreak, and plenty of famous men. Now, as she reaches another milestone birthday, her headline-making romantic past is back in the spotlight — including the lovers she adored, the ones who disappointed her, and the man reportedly at the very top of her private list.
Cher’s first brush with Hollywood romance came when she was just 16, in a controversial one-night encounter with Warren Beatty, who was 25 at the time.
Beatty may have been one of the biggest heartthrobs in town, but Cher later made it clear the experience did not exactly leave her breathless.
“Not that he wasn’t technically good, or could be good, but I didn’t feel anything,” she once said.
According to one insider, Beatty would likely land far down the list if Cher were ranking her greatest lovers.
Not long after, Cher met the man who would change her life forever: Sonny Bono.
Sonny was older, ambitious, and completely unforgettable to her. Cher once admitted that the moment she saw him, everyone else in the room seemed to disappear.
“I swear to God, the moment I saw Sonny, everyone else in the room disappeared,” she said. “He was the coolest guy ever.”
Their relationship became more than a love affair. It became a showbiz empire.
Together, Sonny and Cher built a music career, became television favorites, and tied the knot unofficially in 1964 before making it legal in 1969. That same year, they welcomed their son, Chaz Bono.
But behind the scenes, the marriage was not built to last. By 1974, their relationship had exploded into a bitter split, followed by divorce.
Still, Sonny apparently left a lasting impression. One pal reportedly ranked him at number three among Cher’s lovers.
Cher later married rocker Gregg Allman in 1975, and the two had a son together, Elijah Blue Allman. But while their relationship was passionate and chaotic, insiders claim Allman did not rank nearly as high in the bedroom department.
According to one friend, Allman landed much lower on Cher’s private list.
Then came Val Kilmer.
Cher and the Top Gun star had a steamy romance in the early 1980s, and by her own account, the chemistry was intense.
“Val is terrific but sometimes it’s just too intense and hot,” Cher once said.
She also made it very clear that kissing mattered to her.
“He is a great kisser,” she said. “My rule of thumb, and it’s never failed me, is if a man’s a good kisser, he’s a great f–k.”
According to a pal, Kilmer ranked number two.
Over the years, Cher was also linked to several other famous men, including Tom Cruise, Richie Sambora, Eric Clapton, Tim Medvetz, and Joshua Donen.
Her fling with Cruise has long raised eyebrows, especially because Cher once said the Mission: Impossible star was among her top five lovers.
But according to the insider, the man who truly took the top spot was Rob Camilletti, the much younger baker Cher famously dated after meeting him in the 1980s.
Their age gap made them tabloid targets, but Cher reportedly fell hard.
“Rob is definitely the love of her life and also No. 1 on the lover list,” the friend claimed.
More recently, Cher has been dating music producer Alexander “A.E.” Edwards. Their romance has also sparked attention because of their large age gap, but Cher has brushed off the chatter and praised him as kind, talented, funny, and handsome.
She has said the two “really get along great,” proving that even at 80, Cher is still doing exactly what she wants.
And that may be the secret to her staying power.
Cher has never lived by anyone else’s rules. She loved, lost, married, divorced, dated younger men, shocked critics, and kept moving forward.
Looking back at her romantic history, the superstar seems to have no regrets.
“I love having boyfriends,” Cher once said. “A girl can wait for the right man to come along — but in the meantime, that doesn’t mean she can’t have a wonderful time with all the wrong ones.”
She added: “I had just the greatest lovers ever! Not a long list. It’s just a good list.”
At 80, Cher is still the queen of reinvention — and apparently, she has the love life to match.
