Sharon Stone is mourning another heartbreaking loss in her family.
The “Basic Instinct” star revealed Wednesday that her older brother, Michael “Mike” Stone, has died at the age of 74 after what she described as an “extended illness.”
“Mike Stone, My oldest brother, Has passed away,” Sharon shared in an emotional Instagram post. “We wish him peace.”
She signed the message from herself and her three sons, Roan, Laird and Quinn.
The devastating loss comes just three years after Sharon’s younger brother, Patrick Stone, suddenly died from a heart attack at just 57 years old — a tragedy that already shattered the famous family.
While Mike largely stayed out of Hollywood’s spotlight, he did follow his Oscar-nominated sister into acting for a time. He appeared in the 1990 film “End of the Night” and later shared the screen with Sharon in the 1995 Western “The Quick and the Dead.”
Mike also made headlines in the ‘90s for his romance with British socialite Tamara Beckwith. The pair were briefly engaged before eventually splitting.
The Stone family has endured painful loss after painful loss in recent years.
Back in 2023, Sharon tearfully announced Patrick’s death in a video shared online.
“We did lose my brother Patrick Joseph Stone to a heart attack yesterday,” she said at the time. “Like any family, we thank you for your love and support in this time of immeasurable grief.”
Patrick’s widow, Tasha Stone, later shared her own heartbreaking message, saying her “heart feels like it’s been ripped out.”
The tragedy was made even worse because Patrick and Tasha had already suffered the unimaginable loss of their baby son, River, who died from organ failure in 2021 at just 11 months old.
Sharon has often spoken about how close-knit her Pennsylvania family was growing up. In her memoir “The Beauty of Living Twice,” she reflected on the strong bond she shared with her siblings and parents.
The actress is one of four children and also has a younger sister, Kelly.
Their father, Joseph Stone, died in 2009 at 79 after nearly 60 years of marriage to Sharon’s mother, Dorothy Stone. Dorothy passed away last year at 91.
At the time, Sharon honored her mother with a brutally honest tribute, writing: “My hilarious, complex mother died. A product of the last depression, let’s NOT do this again.”
Now, with the death of Mike, fans are once again rallying around the Hollywood icon as she faces yet another painful chapter in her family’s story.
