A quiet Oregon neighborhood was shaken awake in the early hours of the morning when a pickup truck suddenly crashed into a family’s home — after apparently flying through the air.
The frightening moment happened just before 3 a.m. on Feb. 13 in Tigard, and was partially captured on a doorbell camera. The footage shows a speeding truck hurtling toward the ground floor of a house moments before impact.
According to the Tigard Police Department, the driver — identified as 33-year-old Jacob Hankins — has since been charged with reckless driving and recklessly endangering others.
Fortunately, no one inside the home was seriously hurt.
“I didn’t expect a flying truck,” homeowner David Brudnok told NBC affiliate KGW. “I just heard this, ‘Boom!’ And the house shakes… I get down the stairs, and I realize the whole front of my house is completely just gone.”
Inside the house at the time were Brudnok, his partner and their three young children. All five family members escaped without major injuries despite the extensive structural damage to the home.
Investigators believe Hankins struck a dirt mound on the side of the road, which launched the pickup an estimated 100 feet into the air. Authorities say the truck cleared a three-foot brick wall before crashing into the residence.
Police found Hankins initially unconscious at the scene. He and a passenger were transported to a local hospital with what officials described as minor injuries.
“Fortunately, no one was seriously hurt,” the police department said in a statement.
The investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue to review evidence, including the doorbell footage that captured the shocking crash.
