Users browsing Obama’s LinkedIn recently noticed something strange: Trump’s face now appears in the “experience” section tied to Obama’s time as president. The bizarre discovery was first flagged by a Reddit user posting under the name u/marionjoshua, who shared the screenshot to r/mildlyinfuriating, where it quickly exploded with more than 17,000 upvotes.

“I was just scrolling LinkedIn and decided to check on President Obama,” the Reddit user told Newsweek. “I’d just watched something about his presidential library on YouTube, and then I saw it — the logo had changed. It looked ridiculous. Petty, even.”

The user added that he’d checked Obama’s LinkedIn page as recently as a month ago and didn’t see Trump’s photo there at the time, suggesting the change is fairly recent.

So what happened?

According to reports, the switch appears to stem from an update made to the official White House LinkedIn page. The account previously used a generic image of the White House building, but that thumbnail has now been replaced with a photo of Trump — along with a new tagline declaring, “The Golden Age of America Begins Right Now.”

Because LinkedIn automatically links former employees to an organization’s current branding, Trump’s image now appears alongside Obama’s presidential role — an unintended side effect that quickly went viral.

The moment has reignited chatter about the long-running tension between the two presidents. Trump has repeatedly accused Obama of wrongdoing tied to the Russia investigation, even going so far as to allege “treason” last year. Obama, for his part, has taken more subtle shots in recent months, criticizing what he’s called the current administration’s weak commitment to democratic norms and condemning gerrymandering without naming Trump directly.

On Reddit, reactions ranged from mockery to amusement.

“Nobody will ever love any of us like Trump loves Trump,” one commenter wrote.

“So it’s the Trump House now?” another joked.

Others found the whole thing hilarious. “I bet Obama’s team is getting a good laugh out of this,” one user said, while another admitted they were simply surprised Obama even had a LinkedIn page.

As of now, it’s unclear whether Obama can do anything to remove Trump’s image from his profile — or if he’s even aware it’s happening. What is clear is that in the age of algorithms and political rivalry, even LinkedIn isn’t immune to becoming the latest battleground.
