Former The Office star Jenna Fischer is celebrating a deeply personal and emotional milestone — her hair is finally back.
The 51-year-old actress revealed on Instagram that after more than a year of recovery following chemotherapy, she now has enough hair to style it into a bob — and she couldn’t be happier.
“I finally have enough hair for a bob, and I beyond love it,” Fischer wrote, sharing photos of her new jaw-length cut. One image showed her softly curled bob styled with a side part, while another captured a joyful behind-the-scenes moment as she stood in a bathroom holding up wig caps with a big, triumphant smile.
The haircut marks the latest chapter in Fischer’s breast cancer journey. After being diagnosed with stage 1 triple-positive breast cancer in 2023, she underwent a lumpectomy, radiation therapy, and 12 rounds of chemotherapy — a process that caused her to lose her hair. Throughout treatment, Fischer kept her diagnosis private, wearing wigs and hats until she completed chemo.
In her post, Fischer gave heartfelt thanks to celebrity hairstylist Christi Cagle, who supported her through every phase of regrowth — from wigs and custom hats to pixie cuts, clip-in extensions, and navigating her hair’s new texture.
“My hair grew back thicker and more coarse after chemo,” Fischer shared. “She helped me figure it all out — and now here we are.”
Fischer also opened up about the emotional toll of post-chemo hair loss, revealing she constantly searched online for reassurance during treatment.
“I would Google things like: When will my hair grow back? When will I have hair that looks intentional again?” she wrote.
To help others going through the same experience, Fischer shared a detailed timeline of her regrowth:
• One month post-chemo: first stubble
• Two months: eyebrows and eyelashes return
• Three months: pixie cut
• Several awkward phases she jokingly dubbed “Highland Cow,” “’80s Mama,” and “Mullet”
• One and a half years post-chemo: bob
She closed her post with encouragement for fellow survivors.
“The whole thing was an exercise in patience and surrender,” Fischer wrote. “Sending you love if you are on a similar path.”
Fischer, best known for playing Pam Beesly alongside John Krasinski’s Jim Halpert on The Office, publicly revealed her cancer diagnosis in 2024. Later that year, she shared the news many fans were hoping for — she was officially cancer-free.
