Steven Spielberg’s mysterious new sci-fi project is causing an internet meltdown — with fans and conspiracy theorists alike convinced the legendary director might’ve crossed over from fiction into actual alien territory.
Titled Disclosure (for now), the ultra-secret film wrapped this summer and stars Emily Blunt, Colin Firth, Josh O’Connor, and Colman Domingo. Billboard teasers in New York and L.A. read only one phrase — “All will be disclosed” — and the cryptic marketing has already launched a thousand Reddit threads.
According to insiders, some believe Spielberg “wouldn’t return to UFOs unless something truly different was going on.” The secrecy, they say, has convinced people the movie may involve “real extraterrestrial material.”
Spielberg’s relationship with alien stories has always come with a side of mystery. After E.T. debuted in 1982, then-President Ronald Reagan reportedly joked to the director at a White House screening, “There are a number of people in this room who know everything on that screen is true.” Spielberg later said Reagan wasn’t smiling when he said it — fueling decades of speculation that the filmmaker has insider knowledge.
Online UFO sleuths like YouTuber Chris Ramsay have poured gasoline on the rumors, claiming Spielberg was “chosen to deliver the next phase of disclosure.” Ramsay even floated the possibility that Disclosure could feature footage from an actual UFO — or the craft itself.
“Imagine watching the opening credits and seeing the words ‘This film features an actual UFO,’” Ramsay said. “It would break every box-office record on Earth.”
Fans point to the director’s long history with experts like J. Allen Hynek — the U.S. Air Force scientist who advised on Close Encounters of the Third Kind. Spielberg himself once said he doesn’t believe we’re alone in the universe, calling it “mathematically impossible.”
Still, no one close to the project is talking. Cast members have stayed completely silent about the plot, and sightings of strange aerial activity near the film’s New Jersey set last year only added to the buzz.
Whether Disclosure is fiction or something far stranger, one thing’s certain — when Spielberg finally pulls back the curtain, everyone’s going to be watching.
