Frank Cozzolino, a longtime fixture on Holmes on Homes, has died at 56 after complications from a second liver transplant.
The beloved contractor, who appeared alongside Mike Holmes for nearly three decades on HGTV Canada’s hit renovation series, passed away on December 4. Holmes confirmed the news in an emotional Instagram video, revealing that Cozzolino “had to go in and get another liver” but tragically “passed away due to complications.”
Cozzolino had battled liver disease for years. Back in 2012, he was told he wouldn’t survive more than five years. His first transplant in 2017 gave him what he called a “second chance at life.” On Instagram at the time, he wrote, “I am forever thankful and blessed that organ donation exists.”
Holmes described his longtime friend as someone who “went through Hell” with his health but “made us better” both on and off screen. “His impact will live on in every home he helped,” he shared.
The two first met over 25 years ago when Holmes on Homes was just starting out. “We told him we didn’t have a lot of money to produce the show,” Holmes recalled. “That didn’t matter to him — he genuinely just wanted to help people.”
Frank Cozzolino is survived by his partner Lisa and daughters Filomena and Alexandria.
