Glenn Close isn’t leaving her final chapter to chance. The 8-time Oscar nominee has revealed she’s literally constructing the spot where she plans to take her last breath — and it’s inspired by one of her happiest childhood memories.

During a heartfelt chat on Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ podcast Wiser Than Me, Close said she’s building a replica of her grandparents’ cozy stone cottage — a place that left a lifelong imprint on her.

“My grandparents had this wonderful stone cottage on their farm,” she recalled. “It had ivy on the front, a white picket fence, and was surrounded by hayfields and woods. That’s where my first memories come from.”

Now, decades later, she’s recreating it. “I’ve decided I’m going to end my days in that cottage,” Close said. “There are two bedrooms — one for me and one for my caretaker eventually. That’s where I’m gonna die.”

Despite her frank talk about mortality, Close isn’t slowing down professionally. The legendary actress just wrapped All’s Fair, the Hulu legal dramedy led by Kim Kardashian, which has already been renewed for a second season. She also appears in Knives Out: Wake Up Dead Man and the upcoming The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping.

Off-screen, Close lives in Bozeman, Montana, where she moved in 2019 to be closer to her family. She described the property as “the greatest gift of my life,” saying it borders a national forest filled with mountain lions, elk, and bears. “That’s my legacy to my daughter and her family,” she said proudly.

For Close, the idea of home — and how she wants her story to end — is as cinematic as any role she’s ever played.
