Sandra Bullock has vanished from the spotlight — and sources say it’s by choice.
The Miss Congeniality and Speed star, 61, hasn’t appeared on screen since 2022’s The Lost City and has been living largely out of view since the death of her longtime partner, photographer Bryan Randall, who passed away in 2023 after a private battle with ALS.
“She’s not retired — not officially,” one insider told The Daily Mail. “But it would take something very special to bring her back. She’s just not ready yet.”
For years, Bullock was Hollywood’s go-to leading lady and one of its highest-paid actresses. But after adopting her two children, Louis and Laila, and meeting Randall in 2015, she quietly shifted her focus away from film sets and toward family life.
“When she found Bryan, and became a mom, everything changed,” a source explained. “He and the kids were her reason to wake up every day.”
Randall’s death, they added, “hit her like a Mack truck.”
Bullock has been spotted only a handful of times since stepping away from acting — once at a Lakers game late last year, and again in June. Each time, fans marveled at how gracefully she’s handled her heartbreak.
“She’s still struggling,” another friend shared. “But her kids are her strength. They’re helping her heal.”
Before his passing, Bullock described Randall as “the love of my life.” The two never married — a decision she once said reflected how complete they already felt as a family.
“I don’t need to be told to weather a storm with a good man,” she told Red Table Talk in 2021. “He was the love of my life. We shared two beautiful children — three, with his daughter. It was the best thing ever.”
Insiders say Bullock still receives scripts, but none have sparked the same fire she once had. “She has things in the pipeline,” said one source, “but she’ll come back when she’s ready — on her own terms.”
Until then, the world’s Miss Congeniality seems content to stay behind the curtain — living quietly, lovingly, and on her own timeline.
