Cheryl Hines is reportedly reeling after learning that political journalist Olivia Nuzzi’s new memoir will dive deep into her alleged “non-physical affair” with Hines’ husband, Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

According to insiders, the Curb Your Enthusiasm star was “in a state of shock and distress” when she found out what the upcoming book, American Canto, contains — and she’s not the only one blindsided. Sources say Kennedy himself “had no idea” Nuzzi planned to include intimate details from their past communications.

Nuzzi, 32, allegedly exchanged “sexually charged” messages with the 71-year-old presidential hopeful during his 2024 campaign — a story that rocked Washington when it first broke last year. At the time, Hines nearly walked away from her marriage but ultimately chose to stand by her husband, believing his insistence that nothing physical ever happened.

“Bobby and Cheryl went through hell when the story broke,” one insider said. “She was devastated, but they worked through it and thought it was finally behind them.”

RadarOnline previously revealed that Kennedy even suggested they pretend to separate to ease media pressure — an idea Hines turned down. “It was a very sweet notion,” she told People earlier this year, “but I didn’t think it would help.”

Despite the turmoil, the pair seemed to have moved on. Hines continued making red-carpet appearances with Kennedy, though she declined to live in the couple’s Georgetown home, citing discomfort with political life.

For Nuzzi, the controversy was career-ending. She lost her job as Washington correspondent for New York Magazine despite the outlet saying her reporting remained “accurate and unbiased.” Her engagement to journalist Ryan Lizza also imploded amid claims of manipulation, power struggles, and toxic behavior on both sides.

Lizza later alleged in court filings that Kennedy had tried to “control” Nuzzi, while she privately called the relationship “psychotic” and “indefensible.”

Now, American Canto is set to spill even more secrets — including transcripts from her interviews with President Donald Trump and allegedly racy texts with Kennedy himself. The book, due out in December, could test whether Kennedy’s marriage — and political ambitions — can survive another round of public scandal.
