Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s dream of becoming Washington’s next power couple has turned into a political soap opera, as his Hollywood wife, Cheryl Hines, has flat-out refused to move into the lavish $4.3 million Georgetown townhouse he bought for them—just months after rumors of an affair nearly destroyed their marriage.
The Health and Human Services Secretary under President Donald Trump is now facing a fresh crisis, and it’s not in the Cabinet room—it’s in his own bedroom.
Sources close to the family say RFK Jr., 70, thought the ultra-exclusive D.C. property would be the ultimate peace offering after a string of scandals, including a headline-grabbing “digital affair” with 31-year-old political reporter Olivia Nuzzi.
“He was desperate to show Cheryl he could be the man she married,” a longtime Kennedy insider told us. “He thought this house was symbolic—like planting a flag in a new chapter. Turns out she wants nothing to do with it.”
The five-bedroom Georgian-style residence in the heart of Georgetown was meant to be their new start. Instead, Kennedy is reportedly living there alone—surrounded by antique chandeliers and echoing silence.
Hines, 59, made it clear she has no intention of becoming what insiders call a “full-time political wife.”
“She sees D.C. as boring and soulless,” said a family source. “Cheryl feels like she’s already compromised enough of her identity trying to fit into Bobby’s chaotic world.”
And despite RFK Jr.’s promise that his so-called “lust demons” are behind him, Hines isn’t buying it.
“She’s been burned before—by him,” said another source. “She saw the texts. She saw the photos. She’s not naïve.”
Last year, the former presidential hopeful was linked to journalist Olivia Nuzzi, who is young enough to be his daughter. According to insiders, RFK Jr. was caught in a “digital entanglement” with the New York-based reporter that included “emotional flirtation” and allegedly graphic messages.
Though Kennedy’s team maintains there was no physical relationship—“They only met once for an interview,” his spokesman insisted—insiders say Cheryl saw enough to consider divorce.
“She was humiliated,” said a Hollywood friend. “She took off her wedding ring and told friends she was done.”
RFK Jr.’s appointment to Trump’s Cabinet was already controversial among Democrats, but Cheryl’s circle was reportedly furious about it.
“She didn’t support Bobby joining Trump’s team,” said the source. “She thought it was a betrayal of everything he used to believe in. She told friends, ‘Now he’s playing dress-up with the Republicans.’”
Despite the ideological shift and mounting scandal, Kennedy hoped the move to D.C. would salvage their marriage. Instead, it’s becoming a $4 million monument to denial.
This isn’t the first time Kennedy’s personal life has made headlines. He admitted to cheating on his first wife, Emily Black. His second wife, Mary Richardson, tragically died by suicide after their split.
Now, those closest to Hines say she’s questioning whether she can trust him—ever.
“She gave him another chance after the Nuzzi mess, but she’s not going to be the obedient Cabinet wife smiling for photos at state dinners,” said one friend. “That’s not who she is.”
As for Kennedy, he’s reportedly devastated.
“He keeps saying, ‘I bought this house for her. I did all of this for her,’” said a D.C. staffer. “But he might have been too late.”
Bottom line: Washington got Kennedy, but he may have lost Cheryl for good.

I pray for him every nite.
This just proves democrats don’t care about anyone but themselves. Ruining others to get power is all they know. They will pay people to lie for them to get power. Democrats worst nightmare is coming. Democrats opened a can of worms now they can’t find the worms to put lid back on. Democrats are now playing with fire and have no water to put it out. Hope the Robert and his wife don’t let democrats ruin them.
