Royal watchers say there’s fresh drama inside Buckingham Palace — and this time, it’s not about Prince Harry.
According to new reports, King Charles and Prince William have completely stopped speaking after the heir to the throne made a series of emotional — and, some say, cutting — remarks about his upbringing and his parents’ divorce.
Sources say the 76-year-old monarch was left “deeply hurt” and “disappointed” after William suggested he’s determined to give his own children — Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis — the kind of peaceful, loving family life he never had growing up.
“I think it’s really important that the atmosphere is created at home,” William said in a recent interview. “You have to have that feeling of warmth, safety, and love. My parents got divorced… so that lasted a short period of time.”
The King “Furious” at the Subtle Shade
Royal commentator Phil Dampier told Women’s Day that the remarks were risky and unnecessary.
“Bringing up the failure of Charles and Diana’s marriage doesn’t achieve much and smacks of Harry’s complaining,” he said. “The king and the prince need to be singing from the same song sheet.”
But William didn’t stop there. He also hinted that he hopes his children never have to deal with “the practices in the past” that he and Harry endured — a line that insiders say “cut deep” for the ailing monarch.
“That hurt,” one palace insider told reporters. “The king won’t say anything publicly, but he was upset. Sometimes he feels he’s being undermined on all sides.”
Another Family Divide
Tensions reportedly worsened after Charles agreed to a rare, private meeting with Prince Harry last month — something that left William “staggered,” according to royal insiders.
The meeting, which lasted nearly an hour at Clarence House on September 10, was their first real sit-down since February 2024, when the king revealed his cancer diagnosis.
“William was shocked his father let Harry back into the fold,” said the source. “He felt blindsided — like the rules suddenly changed.”
A Family in Crisis
While King Charles continues his cancer treatment and tries to project unity within the royal family, insiders say the relationship with his eldest son remains tense and distant.
“All the time, the king is battling his illness and doing his best to be a symbol of stability,” one insider added. “But when his own family starts questioning his leadership, it makes everything harder.”
For now, it seems father and son are keeping their distance — and with two royal brothers already at odds, the monarchy may be facing its most fragile moment yet.
