Jimmy Kimmel’s future in late-night TV is hanging in the balance after his show, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, was suddenly suspended by Disney. But according to insiders, secret negotiations are underway that could bring the host back—if he’s willing to play ball.

The show was pulled after Kimmel delivered a fiery monologue taking aim at conservative activist Charlie Kirk, just days after Kirk’s shocking assassination. His remarks triggered major backlash from media giants and political figures—and now Disney is scrambling to do damage control.

Sources say that top Disney and ABC execs are working behind the scenes to find a compromise that would allow Kimmel’s return without further inflaming tensions. But there’s a twist: Sinclair Broadcast Group, which owns several ABC affiliates, has reportedly demanded Kimmel apologize and donate money to Kirk’s organization, Turning Point USA.

Nexstar, another major player in the broadcasting world, also weighed in, threatening to drop Kimmel’s show altogether. Even FCC Chair Brendan Carr publicly warned that if no action was taken, the agency might get involved. “These companies can find ways to change conduct and take actions on Kimmel,” Carr said, “or there’s going to be additional work for the FCC ahead.”

Disney’s move to suspend the show has sparked a fierce debate over free speech. Supporters of Kimmel argue he’s being punished for telling the truth, while critics say his comments crossed a line. As of now, Kimmel hasn’t made any public statements, and insiders say it’s unclear whether he’ll agree to Sinclair’s demands—or dig in his heels.

Meanwhile, about 200 staffers are left in limbo. A source told CNN that Disney will continue paying employees through the end of the week, but what happens after that is anyone’s guess. “Everyone deeply values him and wants him to come back,” said one Disney insider. “But he has to take down the temperature.”

Adding even more drama, reports claim that Kimmel had prepared another blistering monologue aimed at Fox News and MAGA Republicans—one that ABC and Disney executives asked him to tone down. When he refused, the suspension reportedly went into effect immediately.

During Monday’s episode, Kimmel criticized conservative reactions to Charlie Kirk’s murder, slamming what he saw as political opportunism. “The MAGA gang are desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them,” he said, “and doing everything they can to score political points from it.”

He also took a swipe at Donald Trump’s awkward response to Kirk’s death. When asked about the assassination, Trump bizarrely said, “I think very good,” then pointed out White House ballroom renovations. Kimmel quipped: “He’s at the fourth stage of grief: construction. This is how a four-year-old mourns a goldfish.”

Kimmel’s fellow late-night hosts—Stephen Colbert, Jon Stewart, Jimmy Fallon, and Seth Meyers—have reportedly rallied behind him. Meanwhile, conservative voices cheered his suspension. President Trump took to Truth Social to gloat: “Kimmel has ZERO talent, and worse ratings than even Colbert, if that’s possible… Do it NBC!!!”

The next few days are critical. Disney is reportedly feeling pressure from both sides—supporters who want Kimmel back and political forces demanding a public reckoning. With staffers’ paychecks and broadcast licenses on the line, the clock is ticking.

Will Kimmel apologize and return—or double down and risk it all?

Stay tuned.

  1. WHAT HAPPED TO FREE SPEACH ?? He spoke the truth. Somehow this is Trump interference. I’m sure he blackmailed someone to start this in motion.

  2. I personally don’t think you were suspended for your comment about the shooter. I feel #47 objected to your comment about him being in the fourth stage of grief! That is my personal opinion and I will stand by it! I thought it was rather appropriate and extremely FUNNY! Welcome back from your 85 year old fan Jimmy! Long live the First Amendment no matter what #47 tries to do. Joan E. Schott
