Jimmy Fallon fans were left hanging Thursday morning after the late-night host unexpectedly pulled out of a major public event just moments before it was set to begin.
Fallon, who helms NBC’s “The Tonight Show,” had been scheduled to speak at the Fast Company Innovation Festival in New York. He was expected to join a panel titled “Staying ‘On Brand,’” named after his upcoming unscripted reality series of the same name.
But with just 30 minutes to go before showtime, attendees received a last-minute email from organizers announcing Fallon was no longer attending.
“Unfortunately, Jimmy Fallon is no longer able to attend today’s session,” the brief statement read.
No official reason was given for the sudden cancellation, but the timing raised eyebrows. The move came just hours after rival late-night host Jimmy Kimmel’s ABC show was suspended in the wake of controversial remarks Kimmel made about conservative commentator Charlie Kirk.
So far, no comment from Fallon or NBC, and the Fast Company Innovation Festival hasn’t elaborated either. Newsweek reached out to both for further clarification.
Fallon was last seen publicly on Monday night, attending the red-carpet premiere of Netflix’s “Happy Gilmore 2” at Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York.
