Rosie O’Donnell missed one of the biggest moments in her daughter’s life—because of Donald Trump.
The former TV star and longtime Trump critic says she was told not to return to the U.S. for her daughter’s college graduation this year. Why? Security officials warned her it wasn’t safe.
“My daughter graduated college and I didn’t go back because the security people said to me they didn’t think it was wise,” Rosie said on the “No Filter” podcast. “Because I think Trump will use me to rile his base.”
Rosie now lives in Ireland full-time after Trump’s re-election in 2024—and it looks like she won’t be coming back any time soon.
Trump Targets Rosie Again
The decades-long feud between the two has heated up again this year. In July, Trump took to Truth Social and posted a shocking message about the former “View” co-host:
“Because of the fact that Rosie O’Donnell is not in the best interests of our Great Country, I am giving serious consideration to taking away her Citizenship. She is a Threat to Humanity, and should remain in the wonderful Country of Ireland, if they want her.”
Of course, Trump can’t actually revoke someone’s citizenship—but the message made headlines worldwide.
Rosie Fires Back
During the podcast, Rosie didn’t hold back.
“[Trump’s] ability to denigrate people and dismiss them and humiliate them encouraged other people to do the same,” she said.
She also told Variety earlier this year that she has no plans to return to the U.S. while Trump is in office.
“With the current political climate, when would it be safe to come back with my child? I’m not going to push it before this administration is completely finished, and hopefully held accountable for their crimes.”
Fears for ‘The View’
O’Donnell, who previously co-hosted The View, said she’s worried Trump might try to cancel the show altogether—simply because its current stars don’t support him.
“The show with five women speaking their own opinions. That’s the threat now,” she said on TikTok this summer. “It’s not enough to run the country into the ground. You have to control what people see. What they hear. What they think.”
She continued:
“And ‘The View’? Well, that’s a little too much woman — a little too much truth — a little too much Joy Behar saying, ‘I don’t think the insurrection was a tourist visit, Karen.’”
Trump’s Team Responds
Trump’s White House wasn’t having it. In a statement to Variety, spokesperson Taylor Rogers clapped back hard:
“Rosie O’Donnell and ‘Joyless’ Behar are irrelevant losers with too much time on their hands, whining about a failing talk show while everyday Americans are working hard. Our country is better off with Rosie living abroad — and we can all hope ‘Joyless’ Behar will join her next!”
Yikes.
It’s clear the Rosie vs. Trump drama is far from over—and the stakes are getting more personal than ever.

No one stops a person from doing what they want to do. Rosie ran off to Ireland, let her stay there. She is venomous to the US.
