In a fiery and defiant op-ed that sent shockwaves through Washington and beyond, famed attorney Alan Dershowitz broke his silence on one of America’s darkest scandals—Jeffrey Epstein’s mysterious client list.

Writing for The Wall Street Journal, the 86-year-old legal heavyweight—who once served on President Donald Trump’s impeachment defense team—claimed that Epstein never had an official “client list” but admitted the FBI has names that have been hidden from public view.

“I know who they are,” Dershowitz declared. “But the courts have sealed those names. They should be disclosed.”

He added that none of the people named are currently holding public office, but stopped short of saying whether they were ever investigated or charged. “We don’t know whether the accusations are true,” he said.

A President, A Pedophile, And A Legal Minefield

Dershowitz represented Epstein in 2005 when the convicted pedophile was first being investigated for sexually abusing underage girls in Palm Beach, Florida. The scandal eventually led to Epstein’s infamous 2008 plea deal—brokered in part by Dershowitz—that let him serve just 13 months in a cushy private wing of the county jail while working from an office during the day.

In the op-ed, Dershowitz also tried to clear President Trump’s name amid renewed scrutiny of his past ties to Epstein.

“I’ve seen nothing suggesting anything improper or even questionable by Mr. Trump,” he wrote. “Their acquaintance ended when Trump banned Epstein from Mar-a-Lago.”

That narrative stands in stark contrast to what Epstein and Trump once claimed about each other. In unearthed recordings obtained by The Daily Beast, Epstein himself called Trump “my closest friend for ten years.” In 2002, Trump famously told New York Magazine that Epstein was “terrific” and loved “beautiful women… on the younger side.”

Suicide or Setup?

Dershowitz also weighed in on Epstein’s controversial death, calling it “clearly a suicide”—but one potentially assisted by jail staff.

“Broken cameras, missing guards, a vanished cellmate… it’s suspicious,” he wrote. “It seems likely someone helped make it happen—even if indirectly.”

Earlier this month, the Justice Department released nearly 11 hours of surveillance footage from Epstein’s cell block. But a forensic analysis by Wired suggested the video might have been tampered with—adding fuel to long-simmering conspiracy theories that Epstein didn’t kill himself.

No Mossad? No Intel Connection, Says Dershowitz

Dershowitz also shot down a popular claim echoed by conservative pundits like Tucker Carlson: that Epstein was working for Israeli intelligence.

“If he had any ties to Mossad or any other agency, I’d have known—and I would’ve used it to get him a better deal,” Dershowitz said. “He wasn’t an asset. Just a predator with powerful friends.”

Bondi’s Silence and MAGA Outrage

Trump loyalists had pinned their hopes on Attorney General Pam Bondi to finally expose the alleged Epstein cover-up. In February, Bondi stirred the pot when she claimed the Epstein files were “sitting on my desk.”

But earlier this week, Trump himself admitted the much-hyped documents didn’t reveal what his base had hoped.

“She gave me a quick briefing,” Trump told reporters. “She’ll release what’s credible. But there’s not much to see.”

That revelation infuriated many in the MAGA movement, who believed Epstein’s files would take down global elites—and possibly the Clintons. Instead, the DOJ insists there is no official client list and that Epstein’s death was, officially, a suicide.

Dershowitz: Still in the Spotlight

Despite distancing himself from Epstein in recent years, Dershowitz hasn’t been able to avoid the spotlight. In a 2019 interview, he awkwardly admitted to receiving a massage at Epstein’s mansion—though he claimed it was from a “middle-aged woman” and that he “kept [his] underwear on.”

“I don’t like massages, particularly,” he added.

Dershowitz has also faced allegations of his own, which he vehemently denies. “I’ve spent a lifetime fighting for civil liberties,” he told NPR in 2019. “My relationship with Epstein was strictly legal.”

But now, with his latest op-ed, Dershowitz has reopened a pandora’s box of questions about what the government—and America’s most powerful elites—might still be hiding.

One thing’s certain: The Epstein story is far from over.
