Prince Harry lit a fuse under Buckingham Palace this week with a seemingly innocent—but potentially explosive—remark made during a high-profile speech in New York City.

Appearing before a packed room of philanthropists and social changemakers at the NEXUS Global Summit, the Duke of Sussex urged attendees to “take care of each other and our children,” a comment royal insiders say was a thinly veiled jab at his estranged father, King Charles III, and the rest of the royal family.

A Carefully Worded Message with Not-So-Subtle Implications

Harry, 40, reflected on his transformation “from being born into a life of service to discovering my own purpose.” But it was his call to “tackle the systems instead of the symptoms keeping us down” that sent royal watchers into overdrive.

“This wasn’t a throwaway line,” said royal biographer Elaine Renner. “It was a deliberately loaded message aimed at the institution that failed to protect his family, particularly Meghan and their children.”

A Legacy of Tension

Since stepping back from royal duties in 2020, Harry and Meghan Markle have publicly distanced themselves from palace life—and not without controversy. The couple accused the royal household of racial insensitivity and institutional neglect in their bombshell Oprah Winfrey interview.

Behind palace walls, sources say tensions remain sky-high. “The relationship with Charles is virtually non-existent,” one former royal staffer told us. “Harry’s speech may as well have been a press release about how disappointed he is in his father.”

From Royal Duties to Social Justice Crusader

The New York summit, themed Brave Voices and Bold Ideas, attracted over 350 elite investors, social innovators, and changemakers. Prince Harry’s presence added star power—but also carried the weight of royal drama.

Encouraging the crowd to invest in real impact, Harry said, “The future is not inherited—it’s built. We must think boldly and act with urgency.”

Attendees responded with a standing ovation. “He’s evolved into a powerful speaker who commands attention not because of his title—but because of his message,” said impact investor Amara Singh, who was in the audience.

Security Stripped, Lawsuit Lost

Harry’s speech comes just weeks after a painful legal defeat. In May 2025, the prince lost his lawsuit against the UK government over the removal of his royal security detail—a benefit he lost when he stepped away from royal duties.

“I was devastated,” Harry told the BBC. “My family’s safety is not something I can afford to compromise.”

His legal team had argued that Harry still faces threats due to his royal status and his outspoken views on the monarchy. The court disagreed, siding with the Home Office and the Royal and VIP Executive Committee (RAVEC).

The Sussexes Stay Busy—and Vocal

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have continued to carve out their own space on the world stage. At April’s TIME100 Summit, Meghan took the mic to promote her new projects, while Harry sat in the audience with a proud smile.

Back home in California, the couple are raising Prince Archie, 6, and Princess Lilibet, 4—children born into two worlds: royal lineage and Hollywood independence.

No End to the Feud in Sight

As Harry takes to American stages to speak about justice, legacy, and protecting children, his words continue to stir speculation that the rift with his family is deeper than ever.

“This is not reconciliation,” said British journalist Arthur Pendrake. “This is redefinition. Harry’s carving out a new royal identity—without the crown, without the palace, and without apologies.”

  1. He FINISHED off ANY chance of getting back with his family…and this speech did it. He’ll wind up on the outside looking in as William and Catherine becoming King and Queen and he will be left with NOTHING. The Shrew will walk away as well, looking for a richer husband with more pull than him…

  2. I saw and heard an interview by Stephen Colbert interviewing Harry. I believe from one evening this week. Every question he asked Harry was definitely what people want to know about. I’ve never been a fan of Stephen, but this interview was fantastic, with Harry slamming his fist on the desk and walking out of the studio. I hope I can find it to hear in it’s entirety. Very well spoken Stephen. Too bad he didn’t stick around to discuss the justified questions. I perfectly agreed with the questions. He has been whining for years and years. Move on and stop complaining to interviewers about what a “victim” you still are…want privacy, but staying in the news regularly.

  3. My big question is, Why would there be any person out there in entertainment who’d even want to sit down with Hazbean & listen to the self righteous moaning. Unless it is to wind him up to lose whatever cool he may possess. We are all bored senseless hearing over & over again his ludicrous cries of Woe is me. Can we all come together and decide to totally ignore him and the awful person he chose to marry against good advice from his once nearest & dearest. As the old saying goes, “ you made your bed so now you can lie in it”

  4. Harry you made your bed now sleep in it. Not greener on other side is it? Using your children is something you should never do period. You want to play like you are the victim but you really aren’t. Stand up and take it like a man you acted like when you walked out on your family.

  5. When the media stops reporting every move they make, maybe they will just fade away. No one really cares about all his whining. He should live the life he chose away from the public eye, which he’s in more than ever with his antics.
