Iggy Pop pulled off one of his wildest stunts yet — and fans are still buzzing.

The punk rock legend shocked the crowd at London’s Alexandra Palace on May 28 by literally exiting the stage in a coffin. The 78-year-old performer had fans on their feet after a full-throttle show, only to leave jaws on the floor as a massive black casket was rolled out and opened to reveal the shirtless icon himself, grinning from ear to ear.

Once Iggy popped out of the coffin, the audience erupted into cheers. He was wheeled offstage like a rock ‘n’ roll pharaoh heading to his next gig in the afterlife.

Later, Iggy shared the dramatic moment on X (formerly Twitter), captioning the clip: “London was a hoot! How you exit is equally important to how you enter.” Fans flooded the post with praise: “Only Iggy… may he long reign,” one wrote. Another added, “Always that smile… mischievous charmer.”

The Michigan-born singer, best known as frontman for The Stooges and for redefining what it means to be a rock star, powered through 20 songs during the London show — starting with “TV Eye” and never letting up.

But offstage? The man famous for mayhem has a surprisingly mellow side.

In an interview last year, Iggy confessed that his real pleasures are a bit more… bubbly. “I like baths, sometimes with a rubber duck and bubbles — yeah definitely bubbles,” he shared during a Cannes Film Festival listening party. “Music and the sea” are his ultimate sources of joy, but his everyday reset button is a chill day at the beach. “Chill for me is about 95 percent of life,” he added. “I’m chill all the time.”

When asked what really makes him feel euphoric these days, Iggy said it comes down to just two things: “love and privacy.” If he can get both in one day? “Then it’s WOW.”

Despite his laid-back offstage lifestyle, Iggy’s relationship with the music industry hasn’t always been easy. In 2020, he was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Grammys — but nearly turned it down. “I kept telling my manager, ‘I don’t want to talk to them. I hate those people,’” he revealed, calling the Recording Academy out for trying to treat him “like an exhibit in their museum.”

Eventually, the Grammys won him over. “They told me, ‘Without you, there’s no Lil Nas X and there’s no Billie Eilish.’” Iggy accepted — but only after getting the credit he deserved.
