Legendary Motown icon Smokey Robinson is fighting back hard after being accused of sexual assault by four former employees—filing a staggering $500 million counter-lawsuit and claiming he’s the real victim in a plot to destroy his reputation.

Earlier this month, four anonymous women sued the 84-year-old singer for $50 million, alleging sexual battery, assault, and even false imprisonment. But Robinson and his wife Frances are now hitting back with a massive legal counterpunch, accusing the women of slander, elder abuse, and emotional blackmail.

In the bombshell counter-complaint, Robinson calls the accusations “fabricated” and part of a calculated extortion scheme. According to the filing, the couple treated the women “like extended family”—taking them on vacations, offering financial help, and celebrating holidays together.

“The Robinsons did not abuse, harm or take advantage of Plaintiffs,” the court documents claim. “They treated Plaintiffs with the utmost kindness and generosity.”

But it didn’t stop there. Robinson’s legal team claims the women demanded over $100 million before filing their lawsuit and going public. When that didn’t work, the suit says they “created a media circus” and tried to fuel public outrage.

Attorney John W. Harris, who represents the women, reportedly described Robinson as a “serial and sick rapist” and a “serial assaulter.” Harris has not responded to requests for comment.

Robinson’s side also questions the women’s credibility, pointing out that at least one of them voluntarily returned to work after leaving. The counter-suit even suggests that some of the accusers may have stolen financial records and gold coins from the couple—and that one of them allegedly deleted key evidence from Frances Robinson’s phone.

In a bold legal move, the Robinsons are also trying to force the women to reveal their identities, accusing them of hiding behind anonymity without meeting the legal standard required under California law.

The original lawsuit, filed earlier in May, described alleged patterns of abuse and harassment stretching over years. The women claim they stayed silent out of fear—of losing their jobs, being shunned by the Robinsons’ circle, or risking their immigration status.

Just days after the explosive lawsuit made headlines, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department confirmed that its Special Victims Bureau had launched a criminal investigation into the allegations.

“The investigation is in the early stages, and we have no further comment,” the department stated.

With hundreds of millions now at stake and a criminal probe underway, this case is shaping up to be one of the most high-profile celebrity legal battles of the year.
