Shoppers looking to snag some lace and lingerie online were met with a surprise Wednesday—Victoria’s Secret’s website had completely vanished.
Instead of their usual pink-and-satin glam, visitors to the lingerie giant’s homepage were greeted by a pitch-black screen and a cryptic message: “Valued customer, we identified and are taking steps to address a security incident… Our team is working around the clock to fully restore operations.”
While the in-store experience at Victoria’s Secret and PINK locations is still up and running, several services inside shops were also reportedly affected.
In a statement to FOX Business, a company spokesperson said they moved fast after detecting the issue. “Third-party experts are engaged, and we took down our website and some in store services as a precaution,” the spokesperson explained.
The company has yet to reveal exactly what the security incident involved or if customer data was breached. There’s also no word yet on whether law enforcement has been looped in.
What we do know: this blackout comes at a price. Victoria’s Secret generated around $2 billion in digital sales last year—about one-third of its revenue. And the shutdown rattled Wall Street, with shares of Victoria’s Secret & Co. (VSCO) sliding nearly 7% in a single day.
No timeline has been offered on when the site will return. Until then, if you’re looking to shop, you’ll need to head to a brick-and-mortar store—or wait it out and hope your favorite items don’t sell out in the chaos.
