Tensions are bubbling behind the scenes at The View, and Ana Navarro is right in the thick of it. According to a report from Fox News Digital, Navarro has been pushing back hard against ABC’s new marching orders: tone down the political talk and steer the show toward celebrity fluff. But not everyone on set is backing her up.
ABC brass, including News President Almin Karamehmedovic, reportedly met with the co-hosts and producers to suggest dialing back the daily Trump takes and ramping up the Hollywood coverage. Sources told The Daily Beast that even Disney CEO Bob Iger is on board, urging the daytime panel to cool it on the political jabs.
But Navarro—never one to back down from a fight, especially when it comes to Donald Trump—isn’t budging. In fact, she reportedly took her concerns straight to Iger himself. The response? A unified front from ABC’s top dogs telling her to get in line.
An insider told Fox that ignoring Disney’s direction would be “a terrible decision,” especially when most of the other hosts actually agree with it. “This is daytime TV, not prime-time cable news. The show needs to offer more than just Trump-bashing,” the source said. “Many of us welcomed the shift.”
Yet others argue that politics is what keeps the audience coming back. After all, ratings have soared since Trump’s return to the White House earlier this year. January marked The View’s highest viewership in four years—hardly a sign that viewers are tired of the fiery debates.
Another insider pushed back on the narrative, saying disagreement among co-hosts is what makes The View worth watching. And recent ratings suggest the audience might agree.
Navarro has yet to speak publicly on the brewing controversy. She was last seen on the show May 19 and is currently on vacation through Memorial Day. But she’s set to return to the table Tuesday and will fill in for Sunny Hostin throughout the week.
Whether Navarro will keep fighting or play nice remains to be seen—but with cameras rolling and the tension rising, viewers can expect sparks to fly.
