Mark Consuelos may be charming, but he’s not winning over every audience member — especially when he crushes hopeful contestants on Live with Kelly and Mark.
During the show’s Mother’s Day special on Friday, May 9, Consuelos once again found himself in hot water with viewers after a game of “Stump Mark” — a segment where callers try to fool him with two statements, and he has to guess which one is true.
The theme? Moms. The stakes? A mug and T-shirt.
“Wait, so I have to beat a mom today?” Consuelos joked to producer Gelman before the game started, already sensing the pressure.
The caller, Laura Mallon, admitted she was nervous because she’s a huge fan of both Consuelos and his co-host (and real-life wife), Kelly Ripa. But Ripa wasn’t about to let her husband off easy.
“If you rob this deserving mom of a mug and a T-shirt on Mother’s Day, you’re pretty much a monster,” she warned him.
Mallon gave two birthday-related statements — one about sharing a birthday with her sister-in-law’s child, and another about being born on the same day as her twin brother and mom. Consuelos guessed correctly, which meant Mallon walked away empty-handed.
Cue the boos.
“Are you getting booed?” Mallon asked as the crowd turned on him. Consuelos, unfazed, laughed it off: “You know what? I don’t care! I’m back! It’s a game!”
Unfortunately for Mallon, she didn’t redeem herself in the next round either — losing out on the prize again.
This isn’t the first time the segment has landed Consuelos in trouble. Back in March, he beat a New Jersey firefighter and got the same warning from Ripa: “If you rob Joe of this mug and T-shirt, you, sir, are a monster.” And once again, he won — and got booed for it.
“The audience has turned on you!” Ripa teased at the time.
