In what many are calling a chilling sign from above, a statue of the Virgin Mary was caught on video weeping just two days before the sudden death of Pope Francis — a moment that has left believers stunned and skeptics searching for answers.

The footage, which surfaced from a Good Friday service in the small Colombian town of Aguas Claras, shows what appears to be real tears trickling down the face of a statue known as the Virgin of Sorrows. Worshippers at St. John Eudes Parish were left speechless.

One attendee, Alejandro Ruiz, told local media, “It was as if she felt something terrible was coming. She wasn’t just a statue in that moment — she was grieving.”

The statue was filmed during a traditional “Sermon of the Seven Words” — a Catholic reflection on the final phrases of Jesus Christ before his crucifixion. As the congregation prayed, many claim the Virgin began to cry.

Within hours, the video rocketed across social media platforms. Some users called it a miracle. Others called it a warning.

“She’s really crying,” one viewer wrote. “It’s a sign that something isn’t right in the world.”

Another added: “God is watching, and our Mother cries in silence because of human evil.”

So far, church officials in the region have not confirmed the authenticity of the video or released an official comment. The local Diocese in Ocana is said to be reviewing the footage.

Then, on Easter Monday — just 48 hours after the so-called miracle — Pope Francis was gone.

The 88-year-old pontiff, who had recently recovered enough from a weeks-long battle with pneumonia to meet with President JD Vance and deliver his final Easter blessing at St. Peter’s Basilica, died peacefully that evening.

His death has only added fuel to the mystery.

Was the Virgin Mary mourning the world’s sins — or foretelling the Pope’s passing?

Theories range from divine intervention to a cry for repentance. Conservative Catholics and religious commentators online are calling it “a supernatural wake-up call.”

“The Church has lost its way,” said one X (formerly Twitter) user. “God is sending us signs — we better start listening.”

Others are pointing to the symbolism of the “Virgin of Sorrows” crying on Good Friday — a day that commemorates the death of Christ — and just before the leader of the Catholic Church departed this life.

No statement has come from the Vatican about the weeping statue.

But with millions viewing the footage and Pope Francis now laid to rest, believers around the globe are left with a haunting question:

Was this a miracle — or a message we weren’t ready to hear?
