Comedian and outspoken critic Adam Carolla believes the devastating fires sweeping through Los Angeles may mark a turning point for the city’s political landscape. In an exclusive interview with Fox News, Carolla, who was forced to evacuate his home in Malibu last week, warned that California’s leadership may soon face a reckoning.

“When do we hit rock bottom?” Carolla asked. “We always hear it’s when we bottom out—and I think we’re there. This fire, this city burning to the ground, may just be our ‘bottoming out’ moment.”

The fires have scorched vast swaths of Los Angeles, including Pacific Palisades, Malibu, and Altadena. Thousands of residents, including Carolla, were displaced as the fires raged uncontrollably. Carolla, who is staying with his longtime friend, Dr. Drew Pinsky, emphasized that the crisis is more than just a personal inconvenience.

“It wasn’t just about me being displaced,” Carolla explained. “It’s about thousands of people losing their homes. And no one seems to know who’s been impacted, or how to manage it.”

While Carolla’s concerns have always been about city leadership, he’s particularly critical of what he views as a misguided focus from California’s politicians. He claims they’re more interested in politically charged projects than in addressing the basic infrastructural needs of the state.

“The nuts and bolts of running a city aren’t exciting to them,” Carolla stated, referencing issues like maintaining aqueducts and clearing debris. “It’s boring stuff—fixing infrastructure, managing resources, putting out fires before they start. But instead, we get big ideas, like outlawing internal combustion engines and pushing for electric leaf blowers. Those things are easy to talk about. The boring stuff, like fire prevention, not so much.”

He also didn’t hold back on his criticism of Governor Gavin Newsom, accusing him of prioritizing “fun” over practical governance.

“Newsom doesn’t want to deal with the boring stuff—he wants to focus on equity and trendy causes,” Carolla added, suggesting that priorities like LGBT rights and sanctuary city policies have overshadowed more pressing concerns like fire safety and infrastructure repair. “He wants the fun stuff, not the boring stuff.”

Despite his criticism, Carolla remains hopeful that the fires will spark a shift in the political climate. He pointed to the mounting dissatisfaction among residents who feel their state government has failed them.

“Maybe this disaster will finally open people’s eyes,” he said. “Those who voted for these politicians will realize how incompetent they are when their houses are burned down. Maybe then they’ll demand better leadership.”

The financial toll and long-term effects of the fires remain uncertain, but Carolla believes they may ignite a significant political shift in the traditionally liberal state. He argues that Los Angeles needs “competent, pragmatic leadership,” and not the “pie-in-the-sky” rhetoric that has defined current governance.

“We need adults running the city,” Carolla insisted. “The people who thought the adults were back when Joe Biden took office were wrong. These are the same people who’ve ruined everything. It’s time for actual adults to take charge.”

As Los Angeles rebuilds, Carolla’s message is clear: Californians, especially those in Hollywood, will need to reconsider their political allegiances if they want to avoid future disasters.

  1. The blame for this devastation goes back a long way.  Too many homes, densely packed together on a semi-arid landscape that could not support that housing density safely.  Improper zoning laws and too much pressure to build housing, densely packed together.  This housing density would not have been allowed in an arid region anywhere else in the country.  The over-inflated value of homes in California is to blame.  Now the people who helped drive that overinflation of home values have seen the buzzards come home to roost!!  They have nobody but themselves to blame!Prof. Larry Schlatter

    1. Actually, most of those houses have large lawns and not packed tightly. Problem is Democrats/California blows all its money supporting ILLEGALS in style instead of doing Fire Prevention Measures and making sure there is WATER for fire hydrants in the reservoirs!

  2. I told them 3 weeks ago. They should have been using carbon dioxide. But you don\’t know how politicians are.

  3. So now reality hid them in the face, how amusing. You know the Hollywood crowd, could be accused of white supremacist, anti gay, anti liberal.
