A digitally crafted Christmas card, featuring what appears to be AI-generated images of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s children, has taken social media by storm, igniting both curiosity and criticism.

The black-and-white card showcases an imagined version of Prince Archie, 5, and Princess Lilibet, 3, dressed in festive outfits. Archie appears in a sweater and cargo pants, while Lilibet dons a floral dress strikingly similar to one she wore in the Sussexes’ official Christmas card.

Even the family’s rescue dogs, Mia and Guy, make an appearance in the AI-generated scene. The card reads, “Merry Christmas & Happy New Year from Prince Archie & Princess Lilibet.”

The image, originally posted on X (formerly Twitter), quickly went viral. While some admired the creativity, others harshly criticized the attempt.

Social Media Backlash

Responses ranged from amused skepticism to outright condemnation.

“Creepy,” one user bluntly wrote.

“This is so very weird,” echoed another.

A more analytical fan commented, “No one can create an AI-generated picture of Archie and Lilibet because we simply don’t know how their faces look. The last real photos we’ve seen were from when they were babies.”

Others questioned the authenticity and aesthetic quality: “Worst Photoshop ever,” said one tweet, while another remarked, “Lili looks more like Archie than Archie does.”

The Sussexes’ Official Christmas Card

Earlier this month, Harry, 40, and Meghan, 43, released their real Christmas card. It featured candid moments of the family, including Archie and Lilibet running toward their parents. The couple’s three dogs also made an appearance.

The card included six photos, highlighting family moments and trips to Nigeria and Colombia.

“On behalf of the office of Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Archewell Productions, and Archewell Foundation,” the card read. “We wish you a very happy holiday season and a joyful new year.”

A Quiet Christmas in California

Unlike their royal relatives, who celebrated Christmas at Sandringham, Harry and Meghan opted for an intimate holiday in California with Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland. Royal biographer Ingrid Seward noted, “Meghan says it’s important for her that Archie and Lilibet can have ‘connective memories’ of Thanksgiving and Christmas at home.”

Meanwhile, King Charles, Queen Camilla, Prince William, Kate Middleton, and their children attended morning mass at Sandringham. The Sussexes’ absence continues to highlight the ongoing rift within the royal family.

The Bigger Picture

The viral AI card raises questions about the ethics of using artificial intelligence to fabricate images of public figures’ children. While some see it as harmless fan art, others view it as an invasion of privacy.

“The line between creativity and respect for privacy is thin,” said tech ethics expert Dr. Elena Morales. “When it comes to children, especially those who are intentionally kept out of the spotlight, it’s important to exercise caution.”

Representatives for Harry and Meghan have yet to comment on the incident, leaving the internet to debate the implications of AI technology in a world obsessed with celebrity culture.
