Phil Robertson, the beloved patriarch of the Duck Dynasty family, is facing his toughest challenge yet. Diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease, the 77-year-old reality TV star is determined to stay strong despite the toll it has taken on his health and daily life.

On a recent episode of the Unashamed with the Robertson Family podcast, Phil’s son Jase Robertson shared the news of his father’s condition. “Dad has been battling a significant loss of appetite,” Jase revealed. “He’s not hungry at all, and he’s having to force himself to eat.”

The family credits their faith and the overwhelming support from fans as their source of strength. “The outpouring of love, support, and prayers has been incredible,” Phil’s eldest son Alan Robertson remarked. “It’s almost overwhelming to see how much people care.”

The Alzheimer’s diagnosis came after months of unexplained health issues. Jase disclosed that his father had been in a “downward decline,” experiencing severe pain and difficulty engaging in everyday conversations. “We knew something was wrong, but hearing the doctors confirm it as Alzheimer’s—it was tough,” he admitted.

The reality star, who once captivated audiences with his quick wit and larger-than-life personality, now struggles to walk without pain. “He misses being part of the podcast. He misses telling stories,” Jase shared. “These days, he can barely sit down without crying out in pain.”

Despite the challenges, the Robertsons remain optimistic. Jase recounted a rare moment of reprieve shortly after they announced Phil’s condition on the podcast. “For the first time in months, Dad seemed more at peace,” he said. “We even managed to sit down for a meal together. If we bring him food he loves, like a good gumbo, we can sometimes persuade him to eat.”

The family has also found solace in their faith community. Phil recently attended church, an experience Jase described as a small but significant victory. “He didn’t say much, but just seeing him there was uplifting for all of us,” he said.

Phil Robertson rose to fame as the founder of the Duck Commander Company, which eventually became the foundation of the hit reality series Duck Dynasty. The show, which aired from 2012 to 2017, chronicled the family’s duck call business and their strong Christian faith. It remains one of A&E’s most successful programs, drawing millions of viewers and turning the Robertsons into household names.

Reflecting on his father’s journey, Jase shared, “This is a man who has always been strong, resilient, and full of faith. We’re taking it one day at a time, leaning on God, and staying grateful for the time we have with him.”

The announcement of Phil’s diagnosis has sparked an outpouring of support, including a personal message from Donald Trump Jr. “I was overwhelmed,” Jase said of the unexpected text. “It shows how much of an impact Dad has had on so many people.”

As the Robertsons navigate this new chapter, they remain committed to keeping fans updated through their podcast. “We know there’s no cure for what Dad has,” Jase concluded. “But we’re focused on making him as comfortable as possible and cherishing every moment we have together.
