Paris — A daring stowaway from New York’s John F. Kennedy Airport has been detained in Paris after a chaotic and clandestine journey that ended in a disruptive outburst on her return flight.

The woman, reportedly in her 50s and holding both a Russian passport and a U.S. green card, slipped past multiple layers of airport security before boarding Delta Flight 863 from JFK to Charles de Gaulle Airport earlier this week. She was not just a passenger without a boarding pass—she was a symbol of a massive security failure now under federal investigation.

Undetected from Takeoff to Landing

The stowaway allegedly concealed herself in a rear lavatory during takeoff and intermittently occupied empty seats throughout the flight. Despite the aircraft being reportedly full, officials confirmed she managed to move unnoticed by flight attendants and passengers alike.

“I didn’t even know anything was wrong until we landed,” said a passenger who spoke to CNN. “We were told to stay seated because French police were boarding for a ‘serious security issue.’ It was surreal.”

French authorities detained her immediately upon arrival, where she requested asylum—a plea that was swiftly denied, mirroring a previous attempt in France several years ago.

Outburst Grounds Return Flight

On Saturday, the woman was slated to be deported back to the U.S. But the return trip took a dramatic turn when she caused a “disruptive outburst” that forced crew members to remove her from the flight before departure.

The New York Post reported that she became “uncontrollable,” prompting the airline to involve airport security. Details of the outburst remain unclear, but it was severe enough to delay the flight and leave her stranded once again at Charles de Gaulle.

Security Lapses Under Scrutiny

The incident has triggered an urgent investigation by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), JFK Airport officials, and Delta Air Lines. Questions are mounting over how the woman bypassed stringent security protocols, including TSA screening and multiple ID checks.

“It’s a serious breach,” an anonymous TSA official told the New York Daily News. “We’re looking into every step—from security screening to boarding procedures.”

Her audacious maneuver has exposed potential vulnerabilities in airport security systems, prompting concerns about passenger safety and operational integrity.

Legal Consequences Await

When the stowaway is eventually returned to the U.S., she is expected to face a barrage of state and federal charges, including illegal boarding, security breaches, and possible interference with a flight crew.

As the investigation unfolds, travelers are left questioning the robustness of airport security measures that allowed one determined individual to outsmart an entire system designed to prevent exactly this scenario.
