In a mid-air mishap that’s causing turbulence online, a Delta Airlines passenger experienced an unexpected shock when part of their airplane window’s frame detached during a rough landing.

The incident, shared in a Reddit post now going viral, has sparked both concern and comedy among viewers.

“Whelp, it’s not often that things other than Wi-Fi break on my flights, but this is a first,” the passenger captioned the post, which featured a photo of the white border lying on the floor. The picture also revealed the gaping area around the window where the frame had dislodged.

Delta Airlines addressed the issue promptly, issuing a statement emphasizing the importance of cabin safety. “Our cabin maintenance teams take these reports seriously and will take appropriate action to address,” a spokesperson confirmed.

The airline, known for its commitment to safety and customer service, has faced similar incidents before. Earlier this year, an emergency slide detached mid-air from a Delta plane, forcing a Los Angeles-bound flight to turn back to JFK Airport.

The Reddit post has sparked a flurry of reactions from users, with many oscillating between outrage and humor.

“Premium airline experience!” quipped one commenter. Another wrote, “I would have been very traumatized by this.”

Others chose humor to cope. “Wear it like a necklace as you exit the plane,” one user joked, while another remarked, “That’s why I always carry duct tape in my rollaway.”

Some used the moment to highlight frustrations with airline perks. “Send a complaint to corporate! Maybe they’ll retire that old plane and give you some Delta miles,” one user suggested sarcastically.

While the incident raises questions about cabin maintenance, Delta has been working to enhance its passenger experience. Starting December 1, the airline will introduce Shake Shack burgers on long-haul flights—but only for first-class travelers.

For economy passengers, however, the news of dislodged window frames might overshadow gourmet dining upgrades. As airlines compete for customer loyalty, safety remains a top priority—and moments like these only highlight the importance of rigorous maintenance.

Whether this window-frame fiasco prompts policy changes or simply fuels more Reddit jokes, one thing is clear: passengers won’t soon forget this rocky ride.

  1. We used to tighten screws during takeoff to keep instruments from falling out of the console in our skydiving aircraft. Never had any problems. Freaked out the students!

  2. Is great to know, that flying today is as safer as it was yesterday. I think.?!?!?!?!?
