The Illinois Supreme Court has done the unthinkable: they overturned Jussie Smollett’s conviction for his 2019 hate crime hoax.
Yes, the same hoax that wasted police resources, divided America, and painted Trump supporters as violent racists. Now, Smollett walks free, his name scrubbed clean by a system that seems rigged for the rich and connected.
The court’s decision claims Smollett’s initial deal with Cook County prosecutors—brokered by the controversial and scandal-plagued State’s Attorney Kim Foxx—must be honored. Back in 2019, Foxx let Smollett off the hook with a slap on the wrist. His “punishment” for orchestrating a phony attack? Forfeit $10,000, log 15 hours of community service, and go on his merry way.
Americans across the political spectrum were outraged. This wasn’t justice; it was a sham. Public pressure forced a special prosecutor to step in and reopen the case.
Smollett was eventually convicted in 2021 of felony disorderly conduct for lying to police, earning a sentence of 30 months probation, with 150 days to be served in Cook County Jail. But now, even that limited accountability has been erased. The Supreme Court decided Smollett’s deal was binding, essentially rewarding him for gaming the system.
Kim Foxx: The Real Villain?
Let’s not forget who made all this possible: Kim Foxx, the same prosecutor whose office has been a revolving door for criminals. Foxx’s ties to powerful Democrats, including Michelle Obama’s former chief of staff, raised eyebrows when it was revealed she intervened in the Smollett case after a nudge from Hollywood insiders.
Her handling of Smollett’s case reeked of favoritism and political bias. Even Chicago’s then-Mayor Rahm Emanuel, a fellow Democrat, called her decision to drop the charges a “whitewash of justice.”
This is the same Kim Foxx who has made a career out of coddling criminals under the guise of “progressive reform.” Her policies have let violent offenders roam the streets of Chicago, leading to skyrocketing crime rates and shattered communities. Smollett’s case is just the most high-profile example of her soft-on-crime approach.
The Hoax Heard ‘Round the World
Smollett’s elaborate hate crime hoax was a slap in the face to every real victim of violence and racism. He claimed two white men in MAGA hats attacked him in the middle of a frigid Chicago night, shouting racist and homophobic slurs while dousing him in bleach and placing a noose around his neck.
It was a lie from start to finish. The “attackers” turned out to be two Nigerian brothers hired by Smollett himself. His motive? To boost his profile and demand a higher paycheck for his role on the TV show Empire.
But Smollett’s lies went deeper than personal gain. He weaponized America’s political and racial divides to smear Trump supporters, painting them as violent bigots. The mainstream media and left-wing politicians ate it up, using his fabricated story to vilify conservatives nationwide.
A Dangerous Precedent
Now, thanks to the Illinois Supreme Court, Smollett’s despicable actions have been effectively erased. The decision sends a dangerous message: if you’re rich, famous, and well-connected, the rules don’t apply to you. Meanwhile, hardworking Americans are held to a completely different standard.
Smollett isn’t just a disgraced actor; he’s a symbol of everything wrong with our justice system. His case exposed the double standards, the political favoritism, and the relentless war on conservative values.
This isn’t just a legal defeat—it’s a moral failure. It’s proof that, in today’s America, the elites can lie, cheat, and manipulate the system without consequence. For everyday Americans, the message is clear: justice isn’t blind—it’s bought and paid for.
The Final Question: How many more Jussie Smolletts will it take before the system finally collapses under the weight of its own corruption? Stay tuned, because this battle for accountability is far from over.

If the State Attorney and the county prosecutors, all allegedly experts in law, signed off on this original deal, then Smollett did not “game the system”. The legal experts failed the People. Under no circumstances would I ever make a deal with a government official if I knew they would not be legally bound to uphold their end of the bargain.
