Jamie Foxx has recently sparked fresh speculation regarding his mysterious hospitalization last year.

During recent live tapings for his upcoming Netflix special, What Had Happened Was, Foxx allegedly hinted at a possible connection between music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs and the events surrounding his health scare. Accounts from audience members and industry insiders paint a dramatic and varied picture of what was discussed.

One witness, Choke No Joke—a producer and filmmaker who attended two of Foxx’s three shows held in early October at Atlanta’s Alliance Theatre—claimed Foxx openly implicated Combs during his routine.

Speaking with Comedy Hype, Choke stated, “Jamie has a special coming out on Netflix called What Had Happened Was, and I went to the taping of it… Jamie said ‘Diddy was responsible for what happened to him,’ and [Foxx] is the one who called the FBI on [Combs].”

According to Choke, the delivery of Foxx’s remarks seemed less comedic and more serious. “Y’all can determine was he joking or not when you see the show,” he added. “I know when somebody’s setting up a punchline, and I know when you’re serious.”

Others in attendance, however, recall different interpretations. Dennis L.A. White, an actor who attended two of Foxx’s tapings, recalls Foxx addressing the rumor more playfully. He claimed Foxx said something closer to, “People keep asking me if Diddy was responsible. He was not responsible. If he was, I would’ve been dead.” White mentioned that Foxx used the opportunity to joke about Combs, even making lighthearted references to “baby oil” in his set.

A notable source, celebrity security guard Big Homie .CC, told Cam Capone News he was certain Combs “poisoned Jamie Foxx, and Jamie Foxx reported him to the FBI because of it.” Like Choke, Big Homie .CC based his claims on what he allegedly heard Foxx say at the shows. He suggested that Foxx may have feared for his safety and took serious steps in response.

Foxx’s social media reflects a mix of gratitude and intensity since his health ordeal. Following the Atlanta shows, he shared a heartfelt message on Instagram, writing, “God is good… I had an opportunity to tell my side of the story and there was no better place than Atlanta, Georgia.” He continued, “It’s not a stand-up comedy show… it’s an artistic explanation of something that went terribly wrong.”

In April 2023, Foxx’s daughter, Corinne, had announced that her father faced a “medical complication” without revealing further details. Months later, Foxx told his followers he had gone through something he never expected. “I went through something I thought I would never, ever go through,” he said, clarifying he wasn’t “blind” or “paralyzed” as some rumors suggested.

On the other side of the story, Sean “Diddy” Combs is now entangled in serious legal battles. Last month, he was arrested on charges that include racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking, and more. The indictment alleges Combs led a “criminal enterprise” that included “forced labor, kidnapping, and obstruction of justice.” Currently held without bail, Combs has pleaded not guilty. If convicted, he faces a potential sentence ranging from 15 years to life in prison.

As for the specifics of Foxx’s claims regarding Combs, Netflix has not commented on what will make the final cut of What Had Happened Was. Reps for both Foxx and Combs have yet to respond, leaving fans eager to see if the allegations will be included in Foxx’s special when it airs.
