A wild World Series celebration took a horrifying turn for one L.A. Dodgers fan, leaving him severely injured and without two fingers. Kevin King Jr., 25, is now dealing with the aftermath of a firework explosion that occurred during a chaotic night of festivities.
His father, Kevin King Sr., revealed the shocking details to Fox 11 Los Angeles. The accident cost King Jr. the pointer and middle fingers of his left hand. He has already undergone two surgeries to treat his injuries, with a third procedure looming. “It’s a nightmare,” King Sr. lamented, expressing gratitude that his son wasn’t hurt worse.
In addition to the loss of fingers, King Jr. is facing hearing loss in both ears. Medical professionals are baffled by the extent of his injuries. “Just watching the video alone, they don’t understand how he was able to walk away with the injuries that he has,” King Sr. remarked. “He protected 98 percent of his face from the explosion.”
King Jr. is currently recovering in a Southern California hospital. His future in the oil industry remains uncertain as he works towards rehabilitation. Meanwhile, a GoFundMe page has been set up to assist with his mounting medical expenses, and generous supporters have already contributed nearly $10,000.
This tragic incident is a stark reminder of the dangers of fireworks, especially during celebratory events. The excitement of the World Series should bring joy, not heartache. Safety advocates warn that every year, thousands are injured in firework-related accidents, emphasizing the need for caution and awareness during such festivities .
